Great quiz, but there are a few problems. 1. I think you should count England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as one country, the U.K. 2. Are you sure Germany doesn't make this list? Sweden made it.....

I agree that UK should be removed as a type in for England.

Had three empty slots and was trying everything I could think of - tried a bunch of African countries, Asian countries, nothing worked. Only then realised when I'd typed UK it had accepted it but came up as England. After that I typed Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales and got all the answers. I know for football purposes the constituent countries of the UK are considered separately, but I agree that if that's the way you're doing it, don't accept UK for England. I'd be surprised if my confusion was unique.

I agree, if UK is accepted, it should fill in all 4, since they were comprehended in the guess. Otherwise, don't accept it, and people will realize they need to guess the constituents.

After reading the instructions, I got the four non-sovereign states out of the way at the start, and then could concentrate on other proper countries. So yes, this is definitely better.

And let's not forget Hitzlsperger, the Hammer. Used to play in England when no other German did.

I like it this way. 2 seconds of confusion when UK wasn't accepted, then noticed the caveat, might have missed it if UK had been okay. Lots of typing, but I agree either UK stands for all 4 or none of them.

absolutely not. for footballing purposes they are very much different questions. close followers of footballers will know this.. and no no no re uk for england. that is dumbing it down too much. us brits have to struggle with US sports quizzes.

Germany has a strong league, so most german players stay in their own country. The only german player I remember playing in the Premier League is Lehmann. Of course there are other, but it's unusual.

Klinsmann, Mertesacker, Ozil, Schurrle, Ballack, Schweinsteiger, Mustafi, Gundogan, Can, Hamann. It's not that unusual, especially recently.

Tremmel, Zieler, Holtby, Leese...I think Germany must be very closely to the field.

No, they should be counted separately, because the UK recognises each one as its own country and the Premier League is within England, which also recognises each as its own country.

Nice quiz, I had one mistake only: Netherlands. I tried it both ways: Holland or "the" Netherlands, none of them was accepted.

Wow, this was quite hard. I got all of the left column Italy and Northern Ireland, then I started guessing all the prior British colonies. After than, I started just guessing countries by proximity to the UK. I never thought to go back and fill the the soccer powerhouses of Argentina and Brazil :(
