Northern Cyprus is not internationally acknowledged.

Level 82

And there's the UN zone between them, not sure if they border each other anywhere.
+10
Level 82
Jun 25, 2017
Is the UN Zone the width of a narrow alleyway? Not sure that counts. I walked between the two in about 45 seconds. Pretty sure it's the first thing: only one country on Earth recognizes the sovereignty of Northern Cyprus and that's the country that moved in to occupy it: Turkey.
+4
Level 82
May 8, 2019
Yeah I agree the reason is lack of recognition (by JetPunk most importantly), especially as Cyprus is internationally recognized as encompassing the whole island apart from the SBAs so it can't border another country.

But from the Turkish point of view there's a no man's land (or British base) all along the border, so they don't touch, not even in the capital where they're a few metres apart.

+3
Level 65
Jun 25, 2019
The UK has territory on the island, so they still wouldn't be on the list if Northern Cyprus was taken into account.

Yeah, not that interesting at all considering that they border 1. Albania (4th poorest country in Europe), 2. Macedonia (whose economy is based on pissing off Greece), 3. Bulgaria (chief export: magnificent breasts), and 4. Turkey (currently hard at work at transitioning from the European secular state envisioned by Ataturk to become more like Da'esh).

I respect people sharing their quizzes on quizzes that are similar to the quiz they are advertising (like interopia down below). People who share random quizzes of theirs on unrelated quizzes are slightly annoying, but you know what the quiz you're going to is. However, the problem with people who say to take their quizzes is that you don't know what quizzes there are so it won't pique your interest. At that point, for the person who sees the advertisement, there's no appeal to check out the quizzes since they could just as easily check out someone else's quizzes. If you want people to take your quizzes, you should spend that time working on making your quizzes higher quality to get subscribers and a good reputation.

germany has the 5th largest gdp in the world with around $4 Trillion. why is it not on here?
+7
Level 89

Because this quiz is focusing on GDP per capita. Germany has less GDP per capita than Switzerland, which has less than Liechtenstein.

Sep 12, 2019
yea, per capita they are 20th,

luxembourg(4th), switzerland (6th) denmark(11th), netherlands(16th), austria(17th) they are all higher in rankings (in that order)

Followed closely by Belgium ((22) and france(24) and then czechia (40) and lastly poland (58)

So they are right in the middle, 4 of the countries that they share a border with have higher gdp per capita, and 4 have lower.

How in the world is Equatorial Guinea above South Korea, Andorra (and thus also France and Spain), and Israel? Is there something I'm missing about a tiny west Africa country that would make it so relatively rich?
+7
Level 73
May 7, 2019
one again, it's not the global GDP, the quizz is about GDP PER CAPITA
+6
Level 63
May 7, 2019
Not only that, but it's PPP (purchasing power parity) which takes into account the relative cost of things, so a expensive countries are handicapped in favor of less expensive countries.
+3
Level 67
Sep 12, 2019
Still there must have been a typo, th sources I find put them in the region where it is displayed now (22k) and not 45k where it would be if it was above south korea etc.

So the argument that it is GDP per capita, and PPP, though not incorrect, is invalid, because it would have had to have shown more than double its real GDP to be above south korea.

I also get confused by the countries on Germany's northwest border sometimes to be honest. Basically:

Belgium borders all the others;

The Netherlands only borders Belgium;

Luxembourg & France both border all the others except the Netherlands.

If you consider there is a tiny land border in an island in Adam's Bridge between Indian and Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka should be in the list, though it is arguable and this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_territories_by_land_borders) also doesn't count it.

With PPP, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are very close. I would guess Saudi Arabia edged ahead in the estimates used here. In pure GDP per capita, Kuwait would certainly make the list.

edit: That said, the best data I could find puts Kuwait still slightly ahead ($51,000 to $50,100), so it could also be an oversight/ but Quizmaster may have better data than me.
