Norway has a lot of oil, I guess they use some of it.

Norway does not use its oil and gas for energy generation. 98% of the country's energy is generated by hydropower plants.

96% of electricity is generated from hydro power. But people drive a lot. People fly a lot. People use a lot of natural gas to heat their homes. The world bank data says that 57% of total energy comes from fossil fuel sources.

I think your explanation is correct (heating of homes and other buildings would be another major factor). Interestingly, however, fuel used for international flights (presumably involving the great majority of fuel used for flights originating or arriving at Norwegian airports) is not ascribed to any country. Thus, every country's carbon footprint is underestimated - some more than others, of course.

@tshalla Do you have a source with more information about that? Does that go for all international flights?

Is there a desert in Brazil? Wikipedia seems to mention Jalapao in its list of deserts, but on the Jalapao page it says it's a semi-arid region... I'm not sure about it.

I tried Ukraine for that one too. The only thing I can think of is that the territory counts French Guyana as part of France, which makes the territory bigger than Ukraine.
