Totally thrown by the Edam clue. Despite the quotes was trying to think of a cheese that gets mellower with age, rather than more pungent.

I was thinking of a cheese that starts as a block and you somehow cut it up. Love the question though, it's not really hard as such, just unexpected.

I was thrown off as well, thinking they were looking for a specifically produced or aged cheese. Don't know the riddle and didn't make the connection. I'm not used to the English name for this cheese.

Edam Cheese is Edam in Dutch and English. Don't know what other possible variations (spellings) there could be.

I've never heard of Edam cheese so I was totally lost on that one.

Yeah. It's the one and only Edam question that becomes harder when you're Dutch instead of English-speaking...

In the US, Resume and CV both exist but are different things. Resume is 1 to 2 pages long and outlines skills, professional accomplishments, and job history. CV is basically a long-format resume with an emphasis on research and it mostly just used in Academia. CV's can be 50+ pages long and include everything a resume has but additionally includes conference presentations, publications, teaching experience, and other skills relevant to research/professorship roles. Outside of the US, is a CV essentially the same as a US resume (aka 1-2 page long summary)?

Jan 18, 2018
All my CVs have been 1-2 pages, and not for academia, so I assume your Resume is the same thing.

Level 67
Jan 18, 2018
Yes, most countries use "CV" the way Americans use "resume," but I have noticed that "CV" is creeping into the mainstream in America as a synonym for "resume." You are right that academic CV's are much longer, but white collar professions increasingly use "CV" to refer to the 1-2 page work history document.

Interestingly, although "résumé" is an French word (meaning summary), the French use "CV" (which is Latin).

I was in South Africa two years ago, luckily before that whole epidemic, and I just need to get this off my chest: warthogs are AWESOME. They run about like crazy, they are very family-minded, they kneel down to eat, they're everywhere, and they're delicious. Just all-round cool animals.

J.V. was a brilliant author who did indeed begin a whole new genre of literature and well deserves that epithet. He also deserves a better following than the 39% of jetpunkers who appear to have heard of him - the others seemingly more interested in some obscure "superhero", an equally obscure singer and a social media site.

I feel kind of bad for not getting Jules Verne, but none of those other answers are at all obscure. Jules Verne might not have been guessed by a large percentage of people due to the clue being harder than some of the others rather than Verne being completely unknown by us ignorant other jetpunkers.
