Fixed all errors with the quiz - I think! The New Jersey Americans don't count because they were only in the ABA.

If we're going to do a future one, you cold include ones like the Cavaliers, Goldnuggets and Knickerbockers. All still go by a version of that name, but have shortened them.

While I sort of see your point with the cavs and the knicks, the Nuggets have never been called the Gold Nuggets. Also the Dodgers were the Trolley Dodgers when they were first founded and the Cincinnati Reds were the Redlegs during the cold war.

Actually the Reds were known as the Red Stockings in the late 1870's

Team has always been just the "Mets". The confusion is that the operating enterprise is the "New York Metropolitan Baseball Club".

They are still officially the Cavaliers, the Knickerbockers and the Athletics. The Mets though are just the Mets. And that change was post 1950, unlike the Reds, Red Sox, White Sox, Dodgers and all the others that changed with the press over time a hundred years ago.

so... the Metropolitans should be on here then? My cursory research into the matter seems to indicate that this is the case.

Ah yes, the enormous piles of corn cobs outside Decatur at Staley's corn syrup plant. Indescribable smell.

The Atlanta Flames and the original Ottawa Senators are missing in the NHL category. Also, I wouldn't put the Mighty Ducks there, they just went from Mighty Ducks to the Ducks, they didn't really move or disappear...

but they did discontinue use of the name "Mighty Ducks." I even remember when that happened.

The Oakland Athletics were officially the Oakland A's from 1968 to 1986. The A's should be on this list.

I guess Redskins should be added to the list - even though their new name hasn't been announced yet, the old name has been officially retired. They are, temporarily at least, the "Washington Football Team."
