There were still mammoths when the ancient Egyptian civilization was prevalent

Egyptian civilization lasted for thousands of years. Cleopatra was born closer to the present day than to the time when the great pyramids were constructed.

Why include 'in France'? Might have got it if it didn't specify France...

I'm guessing because it was created in France? I actually had no idea Babar was known in English-speaking countries at all.

I'm American and my kids loved their Babar books. They preferred Babar over Dumbo.

Jumping is not in any way unique to mammals. And there are many other mammals that can't jump (every aquatic mammal, to start with). So I'm not sure why this particular answer is any more relevant than, say, scratch their rear ends. A lot of mammals can do that, but elephants can't.

Yeah, but when you type scratch & it doesn't accept it try the next obvious - jump. That's what I did.

Most aquatic mammals do jump. In fact they're famous for it.

I loved all the Animal Knowledge quizzes I took. They're not as hard as I thought, and even though I didn't get a full score on any of them, I enjoyed them thoroughly. It's always nice to learn some new tidbits of information. E.g. I had no idea about the probable connection between the elephant heads and the cyclops.

I read "people who saw elephant skulls" as "people who cut animal skulls in half." I kept thinking, "who the heck would saw an elephant skull?" Too early in the morning.

elephant skulls and cyclops, what?? That doesnt even make sense... and is that some kind of know story that people used to think that? Otherwise it is a lot of congesture.

Apparently some guy (over a 100 years ago) thought that mayybe the greeks could have thought this.. maybe.. It is the random brainstorm of one guy. Just because HE sees a slight resamblance. No need to drag the greek into this. I can make up stuff like that too. Yea, I think the egyptians... might ve thought etc

It is not like that there is some gentical disorder called cyclopia... or that people just ... make things up.. by making variations on known things (add something here, take away something there, supersize this..). Ask a kid to draw a magical creature, they come up with the most wondrous things..
