It's only been taken 74 times. Give it time. Once it becomes featured on the front page, that will go way down. The only people taking it are the ones seeking it...ergo nerds like me :-)

I disagree. Learning capital cities is pretty easy, so I would expect it to be high. I went blank on two of them but got the rest without cheating.

I didn't have to cheat. I legitimately knew most of them then the ones I didn't know I just guessed at the countries until I got them right. If it had been "here's the country - guess the capital" I would not have gotten more than 3/4

yup, average still 35. I agree there are quite a lot of cheaters on the site, you see people admit to it regularly so there must be more.

But for this one there is not much need. It is not like the map quizzes where you get it wrong it turns red and you dont get another chance. I got all but 5 in one go and could get the others by educated guesses and trial and error. "ow it isnt this one? then it must be that one"

Plus you seem to forget you are on jetpunk. Not that european capitals are some obscure knowledge (Like chinese cites with more than 1m inhabtitants or something) It is basic elementary school stuff. (though most adults would ve forgotten half of it, the ones you never hear about after elementary school tend to slip further away (or didnt excist yet when you were taught the capitals like former yugoslavian countries))

I easily got 100% first time through no cheating required. And 38 seems about right. Take off the bottom 7 least-guessed answers and look at what's left. Most people have at least heard of those answers and could guess them if nothing else. Personally I find it harder to believe that 15% of people missed San Marino and the Vatican.

At 13 it is even easier, you would ve learned them only a few years ago, instead of some distant memory of 30+ years for some ;)

But good for you liking geography :) In my personal opinion more valuable than football ( though you wont have a tonne of use for this in life either ;) ) Unless it is about being able to join certain conversations or something.

Some don't need to guess; they just 'know' the countries the capitals are of, ahem. (A preposition is a bad word to end a sentence with. That's why I added 'ahem' to make 'of' the penultimate word of that sentence, instead of the last.)

Personally, I only got 35 on my first pass through, but I knew which countries I hadn't guessed yet--primarily the Balkans/FYRs and Baltic states--so I went back through, trying the countries I hadn't entered yet, until I got them all.

yea, the bit above greece was a bit foggy for me too. Specifically tirana and ljubljana. And skipped zagreb and skopje and bratislava first. But got those in one go after I had done the other answers I knew.

Some I had difficulties with before (10 minutes ago on another quiz) I though of the following for. Bosnie and Serbia, start with S and B (switched). BudaPEST =plague (in my language)->hunger. BratiSLAVA. so a word related to slav in it. And two others that makes no sense, but helps me... kosovo=pristine and bulgary is smart=sophia. Ow and buchaRest with the R of romania

(And didnt know vaduz and valetta before either, but they just seem to stick. Maybe cause valetta and malta end the same, and well, then there is only one "weird" one left so...)

If you know all the countries in Europe, it's not hard to narrow it down to just the smaller countries, and then all you have to do is look at how the word sounds and think of the language area.

to me, cheating is reading the comments first to look for clues, or looking up answers you don't know before you actually start the quiz...maybe you should have just 15 seconds before it starts automatically. doing and redoing is NOT cheating, it's a learning process, especially when it's a long quiz.
+1
level 63
Jul 21, 2019
cheating is looking up the answers during the quiz ( or right before when you know what the quiz is going to ask) If after doing a quiz, you wanted to brush up on the answers you missed and you study the answers whether it is here or on another site then it is not cheating. (works beter, if you really do it to learn, if you wait about 30 mins, to see if you really have retained the information and not just recite it from shortterm memory)

And cheatig serves no purpose to anyone, cause you hardly ever retain anything that way so you never learn, plus screw up the data for everyone else.

Plus if someone desperately wants to cheat, let them do it the 2nd time around, so the data isnt corrupted. Cause only the first attempt is measured.

I think another thing to consider is that the people taking this quiz probably already know quite a bit about European geography, so the scores are likely to be higher. If someone didn't know anything about the capitals of Europe or didn't care to know, they probably wouldn't take the quiz.

I don't know that it is because of cheating. I knew all of them the first time I took the quiz because I made a point of memorizing all the capitals years ago. Lots of people take a quiz multiple times as they study, so will get higher and higher scores. Lots of people also use quizzes like this to review, so will also get high scores. If they showed the scores only of people who have taken the quiz for the first time, the average would be lower.
