One of his nicknames. The other one is William the Bastard, but sadly that one hasn't endured.

Maybe it had added yet when you commented but the first thing I tried was "The Bastard" and it worked.

Always amazes me that you allow so many type-ins for various words but you don't allow Shakespear (without the e on the end), even though the bard himself famously spelt his name many different ways, sometimes without the e

Accept 'William The Bastard' for William the Conqueror?

Another very US-centric puzzle. Could there not be a label or tag for these? I'm sure US residents would appreciate this too so they don't get people like me complaining in the comments

Er, William is an English name, and the US has by far the largest population of English speakers in the world. Famous Wilhelms and Guillermos would be less US-centric.

Each country with Jetpunk users should send a delegation to a conference where they'll determine the perfect balance of representation for each quiz. I'm confident everyone will be able to switch off their cultural imprints, and the results will be universally approved and objectively correct.

Don't be stupid. There's about 8 questions here that are specifically USA (not counting Bill Clinton and Will Smith who are pretty famous).

If we replaced these questions with the equivalent for other countries (e.g. French handball player, German outlaw, Indian comedian), you'd have some many USA people complaining.

The world does not revolve around USA and you need to realise how others feel!

I, a lifetime baseball & Giants fan, concur that Mays full "official" name is Willie Howard Mays, Jr...never heard him referred to as William or any derivative thereof in my 70+ years.
