Wow, already some of these are starting to fade into obscurity. I still got them all, but it took a good deal more head scratching than it would have a couple years back.

"Where's the beef?" is from a long time ago. I was actually young when it came out.

I'm old enough that I recognized it as a "where's the beef?" reference, but I'm young enough that I don't actually remember the commercial, just references to it, so I didn't know whose commercial it was.

I think the Mean Joe Green one is probably the oldest (early 80s), followed by Where's the Beef (mid-80s), and after that Energizer or Grey Poupon (very early 90s). The Pace Picante sauce one has been around for a while, too (mid-late 90s, I think).

Definitely '80s for Grey Poupon - 87-88 I think?

This explains why some of them didn't even ring a bell, since I wasn't even born 'til the late '80s.

The Pace one has to be around when the movie City Slickers came out, so around '93ish

A few of these I've never seen before probably because I've been living outside of the United States for most of the last 6 years, and before that never watched much TV anyway.. still got 16 tho. Some of these are about 30 years old.

It's some kind of pain reliever I think. The whole commercials is, "Apply directly to the forehead!"

Actually, as I recall, the whole commercial is "HeadOn; apply directly to the forehead" repeated three times.

Yeah, "HeadOn; apply directly to the forehead! HeadOn; apply directly to the forehead! HeadOn; apply directly to the forehead!" The commercial gave me a headache.

I think everyone who saw that stupid commercial remembers it. I never did figure out what the stupid product actually WAS, just that you were supposed to "apply directly to the forehead." I suspect they were trying to give people a headache so that you'd buy it to relieve the pain.

The first time I saw that commercial I really expected the Energizer bunny to bust through the screen because it HAD to be a fake product and yet, he never came.

Perfect description of those Samsung commercials. They were such downers because they made it seem like in order to have the phone you had to have sad music in the background and make belittling comments about other people based on their slightly less cool phones. It made you really not want the phone so you could avoid being like those people. Also, the E-Trade baby was creepy.

If you are influenced that much by a TV ad that you think you will be like those people if you have a certain brand of phone, turn the TV off and start thinking for yourself.

I was gonna say "that's either a waste of a Mentos or a Diet Pepsi," but since they're both gross that's probably actually the best use of them.

Yes, two brands. But outside of the US, Duracell uses the bunny mascot. It seems odd, but true. You can google "Duracell Bunny" and see the court fight articles.

Yeah, the Energizer Bunny actually started out as a parody of the Duracell Bunny, but became more popular (in the US, at least.)
