It's also a past tense form of "spell", mostly used in British English.

Yes, spelt is correct for the past tense of spell.

Spelt and spelled are both common (and correct) in Britain for the past tense of spell.

Spelt is also correct. Just like dreamed and dreamt are both correct.

How closely related were Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor?
+1
level 34
Jul 23, 2013
Franklin and Eleanor were married. Theodore was franklins distant cousin

So was Eleanor; she was Theodore's niece.

Eleanor was Teddy's niece, so FDR married his 5th cousin, once removed, so all three were related prior to the marriage.

In fact, Eleanor Roosevelt never changed her name, interestingly enough.

I used to know someone whose surname was Gifford-Gifford. I've often wondered why someone decided it was worth hyphenating...

Maybe add a little disclaimer it is very US-centric ;)

MOST quizzes on this site are very US-centric...but since the site is based in the US, I think that's only to be expected.

Disclaimers arent a bad thing to realise which are and which arent us-centric (in places you would realisticly expect a atleast somewhat fair distribution (something like no more than a quarter US questions when it is an international quiz). So you know what you are getting in to.

I this case I think it is within margin though. Manning, brady, judd, and partridge are the only ones only americans would really know/have a chance to know. (I thought wayan too but looked it up and they are familiar enough, I just didnt know the name)

So 4/24 questions that are undoable when you are not an american is not too bad imo. Most of these might be "american answers" but are known outside america. So that is fine.

I feel old, being in the minority who can identify the Hansons.

I thought I was exceptionally clever to get the Hansons, only to see that nearly twice as many guessed the Hansons as did the Bluths, which I missed. For all the chatter about that show, you'd think they'd show up on quiz day.

They're a band, made up of three brothers. Their biggest hit was "MMMBop" back in 1997, but they've been making music nonstop ever since.
