I think the Battle of New Orleans took place, technically, after the war was over.

Not really. The Treaty of Ghent was signed in December 1814 and approved by the British shortly afterward. However, the treaty wasn't in effect until both sides approved it. The Battle of New Orleans ended in January 1815, and the Americans ratified the treaty about a month later.

...and had the British won, it's unlikely they would have continued to offer the treaty.

I'm a bit confused - Hawaii became a state in 1959 but Honolulu was already a state capital in 1907?

Hawaii did not become a state until 1959, but the city of Honolulu was incorporated in 1907 before Hawaii was awarded statehood.

I'm even more confused, because under Hawaiian law there are no incorporated cities, only counties. As far as legal jurisdiction is concerned, all settlements on Oahu and adjoining islands are just county territory.

someone2018, after a little more research, it appears that you are right and I'm wrong. Honolulu does indeed appear to be an unincorporated area, but Wikipedia gives conflicting information in the same article. It says that it is unincorporated, but it gives the incorporation date as April 30, 1907.

Love the short shorts question...my mind immediately went to naming all of the white point guards that I could. Finally got it after 4 tries.

I got the right answer, but didn't the government force Microsoft to spin off a few other companies in the 90s or early 2000s?

I think the US government just forced Microsoft to allow other browsers to work right in Windows, and have Windows work right if someone removed IE. I believe there was threat of breakup and Microsoft relented.

How could Honolulu be incorporated as a State Capital in 1907 when Hawaii didn't become a state until 1959?

Think of it as "of the state capitals, which was the last to be incoporated?"

Quite tricky for this European (4/18) :P but interestingly so, I’m always up for hearing about a bit more history :)
