Unless Catherine somehow figured out how to enter a fictional world created centuries after her death, and beat off the half-elven princess there to marry a different king... she really ought to be 'of Aragon.'

Why doesn't it accept "Aragon" on its own? To say nothing of variant spellings of Catherine.

Catherine, Katherine, Kathryn, Katharine, Katheryn, Katharyn, Katherin, Catharine and Cathryn. Are all contemporary variants of the name, and should be accepted. Caterina (in catalan) and Catalina (in Spanish) should also be accepted since those are her birth names.

It was indeed. Kindof a shame it had to be fixed, as it could have produced some truly horrific slashfiction.

The Greek painter is "the Greek?" Okay.

It's one of those "It is really that obvious?" type questions. You can see why he went by a nickname. For the record, I did know his birth name, and would have loved to type out "Theotokopoulos." Alas, another time, perhaps.

For the Spanish NBA player, someone could have just as easily guessed Marc Gasol, so I think you should require their first and last name for that one.

Am I the only one here thinking that El Greco is, both by birth and by merit of his nickname, distinctly not a spaniard?

I agree. If you include him on the account of having achieved the fame there, you should exclude Picasso, Borgia, and many others.

It's Portugal, not Portugual.

So I tried Mio Cid and Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar for "El Cid". Please accept those.

I'm glad that it accepts "Borgia", but at least in the answer list shouldn't it be Alexander VI? That was his official name when he became the Pope.

Shouldn’t the answer for the Pope use his papal name & not his birth name? That seems to be the standard for most other quizzes
