There is extremely little worship of the Norse pantheon in the modern world. Gods that are no longer being worshiped are no longer religious figures, but mythological ones.
The substantive difference is that saying a mythological figure isn't real is unlikely to set off a vicious flamewar in the comments that the Quizmaster will have to deal with.
But surely he's one of the most memorable, or brought up most commonly in pop culture.
My guess is that his name is somewhat forgettable. I was vaguely recalling some short repetition, like tuktuk, or ockock, before remembering oddjob.
Or just age, looking at the number of people who got Olaf. But I thought jp users were fairly old or at least familiar with >1950's classic movies.
Maybe Jaws, the guy with the metal teeth, is more identifiable. Or the dwarf from the 3 nipple movie. Maybe the Korean with diamonds in his face, or the guy who cries blood, but then it's getting into more main villains, not henchmen.
It's far more popular in France, and I don't think we ever read it in school in the UK, but I still feel like it's well-known here and there are some very good English translations.
