I didn't get it, even though I have one, because in Canada we call them "variable rate mortgages". Not all of these terms are universal.

There were several I could guess HALF of. I wish I'd gotten credit for that. Other than that not having any background in economy/accounting/banking/etc and not being a native English speaker nor living in an English-speaking counry I found it pretty hard.

its important for financiers to know about the economy, so the term is thrown around a lot in their field, i guess it is kind of a stretch though

Technically, an IRA is an Individual Retirement Arrangement, though most people don't use that. But that is still its official designation according to the IRS.

So IRA account is not redundant.
