As a side note "orzo" in italian actually means "barley", that pasta is named this way for its form which resembles that of a barley grain. Another name for this same type of pasta is in fact "risoni" which just means "big rice".
Oreos is one of those things, even if your country doesn't have it you likely will have heard of it. People seem to love talking about it. For some reason.
Could you have a better picture of the porridge (aka oats) that doesn't have banana and walnuts in it? I spent ages trying to think of another word for muesli...
Same though pretty sure it wouldn't look like this, it was the only weird meat thing I could think of starting with o. Ow wait tried offcut as well (though not really sure what it means/looks like, ave heard of the term but English isn't my language)
Edit: interestingly, just looked up offcuts and the first word in one of the links is oxtail haha.
a legal fiction like 'dumpster' or 'kleenex', until the name becomes generic and the brand can't be protected because people look at any chocolate sandwich cookie and call it an oreo
Oreos can be food but only if we work together to break Nabisco's grasp on their identity.
I think his point was that things like candy and cookies aren't food. Because you don't eat it for the nutritional value.
it is kind of a grey area. To try to answer the question above, what would you call it then; well em cookies? ;) but as a group I guess consumables? I think that is a nice description.
I think he's saying that it's a brand name, not the food itself. If you were naming instruments that start with F, you could include "flute," but not "Fender," because of course Fender is just a brand name for certain guitars. "Oreo" is the name of a certain kind of sandwich cookie, but the food itself is either "sandwich cookie" or just "cookie" (or "biscuit" in British English). I personally think Oreo is unique enough that it's a perfectly valid answer, but I can understand the objection.
Edit: interestingly, just looked up offcuts and the first word in one of the links is oxtail haha.
P in Britain but good quiz
