For the benefit of those of us from the Old Country, can someone please explain what exactly a Twinkie is? I don’t even know what it’s made from, although I’m guessing it has something to do with packing foam and old mattresses?
That's may be what it is intended to emulate, but it's basically various sugars including high fructose corn syrup, tallow and enriched flour so you get your vitamins, along with vegetable oils, thickeners and artificial colouring. Oh, and preservatives, so that it can sit on a shelf in a warehouse/store/truck. I made the mistake of trying one once. In terms of flavour profile, it was difficult to distinguish it from the packaging. So yes, basically packing foam and old mattresses.
Since your p, s, and r quizzes had parsley, sage, and rosemary, for this t quiz I typed in "thyme" before even looking at the photos. (And I was right!)
I know tilapia but finally only guessed it out of desperation -- saying it's from the Nile River only confused my tiny brain. Tilapia is a big genus and is also native to the Levant, not to mention that it is now a common farm fish globally.
Custard? Good!
Jam? Good!
Meat? GOOOOOD!
I guess it is not sold worldwide.
But it is usually Indian, Ethiopian, Iranian, Levantine, Thai, and so on :D
