I hate to be a pedant, but the first land you come to which is directly south of Gibraltar is a Spanish enclave, and therefore Spain.

You're right. The answer could be either Morocco or Spain, depending on whether you are on the eastern or western portion of the strait.

But the test is asking for the territory south of the Gibraltar strait, not the Gibraltar peninsulat. If we consider that the strait is centered in the narrowest opening to the Mediterranean, then the answer is clearly Morocco.

If you replace each one with the Roman equivalent, they should make a familiar pattern.

Hi zuzu. The Roman equivalents are the planets, counting out from the Sun.

1. Mercury

2. Venus

4. Mars

5. Jupiter

Thank you for taking the time to explain that question. I know that I would have never been able to figure it out and I hate when that happens - as it does with ever-increasing regularity.

Could "I do not contest" be added as an acceptable answer (for those of us answering from our rusty Latin)?
+1

I think a few other variations should be accepted. 'not contested'/'uncontested' are common as well.

A basic knowledge of Latin might at a stretch be considered "general knowledge", but knowledge of something that's only a quirk of the US law system shouldn't be, internationally.

The term “no contest” is common, though. It’s used in various places, like law and sport. I’m pretty sure it has been around for centuries and is international (as a non-American I knew the term instantly).

The gods/planets question is cool but is not objectively correct in the sense that there is no unambiguous single answer.

Otherwise, great quiz!

Fire Flower should work for the Mario question, since that's what it's called in the games.
+1
Level 76
Mar 21, 2023
Please allow "Fire Flower". I see what you are trying to do, by just saying "mushroom" instead of "super mushroom" in the question, but the Super Mushroom is often just called a Mushroom casually, while the Fire Flower is almost never just called the "flower".

the latin one is a bit misleading since i have a basic knowledge of latin but not of the US legal system- nolo actually means "I do not wish" so i wrote "I do not wish to contend" and "I do not want to contend," could these be acceptable as they are the actual translations?
