Look, I love the Stones as much as the next person, but I'm definitely not surprised that a current best-selling artist is better known among the general public than the singer of a band that has only released two albums in the last 20 years and hasn't had a top 10 song in the US or the UK for nearly 30. Hell, back in the '90s I heard jokes about how the Rolling Stones were "the world's greatest Rolling Stones tribute band."

round numbers are easier, quizmaster probably chose a somewhat large number that would also be a bit more challenging than a round number like 2500 which would just be MMD.
