What's the fellowship of the ring? More Harry Potter stuff?
+1
level 30

The Fellowship off the Ring is the group of creatures in Lord of the Rings that tries to take The One Ring to mount doom to be destroyed. It has nothing to do whatsoever with Harry Potter.

I love that it spells out "Samwise" for Sam, but doesn't bother to put "Peregrin" for Pippin or "Meriadoc" for Merry.

I know it's rare but isn't Royal Flush a thing?

Aug 30, 2014
I think, technically, a royal flush is a straight flush.
+3

Aug 30, 2014
I think a Royal Flush is just a Straight Flush between the ten and the ace. Being 10, J, Q, K, A.
+1

Goose is right - it's a straight flush, with an Ace as the high card. But, it's not really a "separate" hand, it just a name for the highest ranking straight flush.

I would have done fantastic on this except for the stupid Brady Bunch... also, I know pretty much nothing about sports most of the time, but isn't a center fielder also known as a mid-fielder? I eventually got it but that tripped me up for a minute.

I enjoy watching sports but when I'm with someone who's crazy about it, I like to nettle them with questions like "Why didn't the manager signal for a homerun?" or comment like "A touchdown would have been a better play in that situation". With such a strategic mind, I should be making the big bucs calling the shots in pro sports.

Harold Godwinson was also king of England in 1066.
+1
level 58
Dec 15, 2014
When the question says "since 1066" it means after William the Conqueror won the Battle of Hastings and became King. The reason for this is that the modern kings' names and numberings begin from then, and not before then, even if the year was 1066. (So that Edward the Confessor, for example, is not one of the numbered Edwards I-VI, who began two centuries later).

So, what it says and what it means are two different things... Perhaps a revision such as "after Hastings" or after Norman Conquest" could be entered, without giving away any of the answers.

You don't accept Ace High for High Card?
+1
level 67
Aug 8, 2018
No, for the same reason it doesn't accept "three sevens" for "three of a kind." It's just one of the possible values of that hand. If no one has an ace, then the high card might be, say, a king.

Funny quiz in that there will be almost no overlap between people that can name all 9 characters in the brady bunch and all 9 members of the fellowship of the ring. I certainly only got one of the Brady Bunch after just guessing names, as the last episode aired some 25 years before I was born!

Nov 20, 2018
Why wouldn't there be overlap? People can like both high fantasy and silly sitcoms at the same time. And LotR has been around for more than 60 years, so it's certainly not any sort of an age issue.
