Easy to me becuase I read those names far more often than I hear them. But I didn't know Honduras' capital, and I don't know if I'll remember that name.

Got all but Tegucigalpa as I've never heard of it before. I'm laughing at the fact that only 41% of people got Ljubljana right (since it's the capital of my home country). But wtf is up with Los Angeles being on the list? That's not hard to spell at all, haha.

I'm still clueless about the struggle for American people to spell Albuquerque. Even with very basic Spanish knowledge, it's not that hard to guess that there is no other way to spell it without messing up the entire pronunciation.

I always thought it was albuRquerque, never got anything else wrong.
+2
Level 67
Aug 1, 2019
It is... the spanish town is called albuRquerque. It is where albuquerque ( without r) in america takes its name from. (well via a person technically, the duke of Alburquerque, before people comment on that ;) )

No idea when in history the american city lost its r, if it was pretty early on or not.(either way, cant have been much more than 300 years ago ;)

That might be true. And as annoying as it may be for those of us who grew up and excelled within a certain kind of educational context where that was emphasized, in rational terms it isn't actually important for people to be excellent spellers--not anymore at least. We have software for that. It's like bothering to memorize the encyclopedia. If it interests you, fine, but plain facts will always be available to find when you need them. You don't need to store them all in your brain. In any case, you are going to run into a practical limit, so why not apply that effort to something more useful or more rewarding.

Hah I can read the last one, I am assuming it is afrikaans ( I am dutch) And it says twobuffaloswithoneshottotallydeadshotfountain. Or: two buffalos shot totally dead with one shot-fountain. (geskiet is the verb here and skoot is the noun shot. so not as in the translation, but the other way around)

Morsdood is a tricky one to translate. You have dead, and very/extremely dead, it is used to emphasize. "as dead as can be" sort of does it I guess.
