Letterpress, yes. Printing, no. The Chinese were printing long before Gutenberg, but Gutenberg invented the moveable type press (the letterpress), which was the big innovation.

Nice catch. It was taken from a picture of Kaiser Wilhelm and Tsar Nicholas II. I assumed that Wilhelm was wearing the pointy hat, but they had actually swapped uniforms for the photo. Changed it to a picture of Otto von Bismarck.

Why shouldn't he? Germany above all else is just patriotic, not bad. German things really have been corrupted by the Third Reich. The song was written in 1870, around 70 years before the Third Reich arose.
