Beaumont, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge. Especially Baton Rouge -- it's the capital of Louisiana and I-10 cuts directly through the center of it before continuing to New Orleans.
Huh, I actually ducked in when I visited the Menil Museum in Houston -- I found it kind of boring, but I was like 12 and not a big fan of abstract art. The Menil Museum had a cool collection but the display labels were often so vague as to be unhelpful.
The Census Bureau estimates that Phoenix has been bigger than Philadelphia for a couple years now. https://factfinder.census.gov/bkmk/table/1.0/en/PEP/2016/PEPANNRSIP.US12A
I was waiting for someone to say this....and I totally agree. On the other hand, I'm sure the Quizmaster was scraping the bottom of the barrel for questions that wouldn't be too obscure. And since I got it right, I'll take it.
"Bottom of the barrel"! Fake news - must be at least 100 suitable questions to ask - e.g. name the 25 man squad for the World Series champions of 2017.
Sure there are many more questions, but how many people around the country (or the world) would have a chance of knowing the answers? This quiz has pretty much reached the limit of general knowledge about Houston that the average person on the street would know.
Except that how are people around the country or the world more likely to get it because it's got Phoenix in the answer? I agree with pamu, this question doesn't fit this quiz.
Valid point, they're not more likely to get it. But as I said, I'll take it because I got it right. I still think the question doesn't really belong but a replacement question would probably be too obscure for me to know, and I'll take points any way I can get them. Maybe the quiz should just be one question shorter.
I had the same thought about the next largest city. Doesn't really seem to be a question about "Houston." How about a question about the best defensive player in the NFL? :)
It actually took me a few moments to remember the hurricane's name, thanks to all the multiple giant hurricanes all in a row. And I even had family that were evacuated via canoe! (They're all safe & sound.)
Don't know much about Houston. Got "Sam", the Apollo question and Beyonce Knowles. Thought the Rodeo was "Running with the Bulls", as that's what done in Calvary.
And, "first" is misspelled.
