I would be interested in how people manage to come in under 5 minutes? do you have any work-related skills to type that fast? do you have to master the 10 finger writing system or is it also possible to write with 2 fingers?
i type with the standard 8 finger home row placement. no real work related skills. lots of paper writing i suppose does it and coding. just keep going you'll get faster. my growth was exponential for awhile
I use a standard keyboard. I only use my index fingers, but my muscle memory makes me type really fast for a pecker. I can get 4 minutes, recall just isn't the hard part.
Not work experience necessarily. But I did learn touch type as a child and use the correct fingers on the corresponding keys. I type about 60 wpm if not a little more, and follow the map along the borders. My record is 4:24 (10:36 left). There is no way I could do this with 2 fingers, but that's out of habit. 2 fingers is probably quicker for someone who has always typed that way.
My personal best time is 3:54! I feel like I can still reduce it tho. Edit: Just after commenting this i got 3:48! These touch typing skills are coming into use.
also, i have been wondering, does anyone here know why vatican city is a country? i tried looking it up but my computer hates me, and i dont remember it being a country but maybe im just weird
Basically in 1929, something called the Lateran treaty ended a bunch of political tensions between Italy and the Catholic Church that granted the Vatican it's independence.
When Italy was unified, large parts of central Italy were called The Papal States and ruled by the Roman Catholic Church with the Pope being in charge of the territories. When Italy was united, the Church refused to recognize the new Italian government and the Italian king refused to reside in Rome, so both sides could avoid the political issues. However, Italians felt that for Italy to stay unified, the seat of government had to be in Rome, not in Milan. Eventually, the Italian government moved into the Quirinal Palace, but had to hire a locksmith since the Pope refused to hand over the keys. Anyways, the Lateran Treaty allowed the Pope to still be a ruler of territory as the head of the Church and allowed the Pope to still receive ambassadors since the Vatican would be a country in its own right. It is a bit more complicated than that, but it was basically a way for both the pope and Italian government to be in charge of a country.
poor sao tome only 22% of people guess it, but don't worry i've guessed it and get it 75% of the time, times I didn't get it is when i couldn't finish this quiz but now i can :)
Got a new record, 4:42. My advice is keep show missing countries on, then if you know all of them and where they are you can't really fail unless you are a really slow typer.
Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Federated States of Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar (Burma), Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, San Marino, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sudan South, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago,

Lichtenstein, Andorra, Luxembourg, San Marino, Vatican, Monaco, Singapore, East Timor, Brunei and Bahrain should get those yellow dots that some other map quizzes have.
Think you have mastered this try the alphabetical one per continent for example Asia's first country in alphabetical order is afghanistan but europe is first so you would start with Albania https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/1353484/countries-of-the-world-quiz-but-its-a-z
I got every country with 5 minutes left, but couldn't spell Djibouti right! First, I spelt it like Djibooty, wondering why I didn't get it. Than I got so desperate that I typed Did-your-booty. Then, Did-ya-booty. I quitted and when I say the correct spelling, I slapped my big, fat, no African knowledge booty.
I started with no clue about african countries and really bad knowledge of some asian ones. But now i get all 196 and also i learnt the places where they are, more games like this :D
One thing with the world map. Tonga and Samoa are both a fair way to the east of the 180 degree line of longitude (Tonga by 500 km, and Samoa by about 800 km), so they should be placed at the far left of the map, not bunched with the other Oceanian countries on the far right of the map (which for those other countries is correct, because they lie mainly west of the 180th parallel.)
damn bruh i have no clue how yall do this under 4 minutes. 5:48 is my best, and unless your hands move at the speed of light, u cant get it below 5 min.
How about ctrl-c "equatorial guinea" before you start - that'll save a second or two.
It marks a part of Serbia as if I hadn't answered Serbia yet
I could've placed them easily in French, now I'm discovering I need to learn all the English names and I really feel too lazy to do it.
this is really one of the best brain exercises you can do. thinking on the fly and planning where to go next while you're typing is no joke
also i have a better time on the quiz without the map somehow. maybe it's better to not rely on the map at all
