No, Christianity is still number one, Islam is the fastest growing, though.

"Fastest growing" is a questionable proposition at best, as well. In terms of sheer number of new converts, Christianity is growing faster. If you count non-religious/atheism/or "other" as a religion, then their numbers are growing WAY faster. If you look at % growth then there are many religions growing much, much faster including Falun Gong despite oppression in China. Islam has the largest number of new adherents, in absolute terms, by *some* estimates... but typically only because birth rates in Muslim countries tend to be higher, and it's hard to gauge how many people are leaving a religion they're born into in countries where doing so is grounds for execution or imprisonment.

Only if you count Catholicism and Protestantism as separate religions.
+6
Level 82

If you say so. But they are different sects of the same religious tradition. For that matter Islam could be treated as a branch of Christianity, and Christianity a branch of Judaism.

Anyway I was just explaining where this idea that Islam is the largest religion in the world comes from. On charts that assert this they usually list Sunni Islam first with 1.5 billion adherents and Roman Catholicism second with 1.3. If you count all Christians together they have about 2.2 billion and all Muslims together have about 1.8 (both as traditionally categorized)

And if you did that you'd need to count Shia and Sunni separately to be consistent

Not all Americans know the answers, either. Some of us just aren't big sports fans, whether it's FIFA or NFL. However, learning new things is always good so I grit my teeth and keep at the sports quizzes until I get them all correct. I actually surprised my soccer-playing grandson by knowing the teams for some of his favorite FIFA players.

Back in the 50s Mad Magazine (from which I learned almost everything I knew at the time about high culture, including "Don Giovanni") ran a parody of "Moby Dick," beginning with the line "Call me Fishmeal." If you ask me it was an improvement over the original.

I was about to comment the same way! Canines are pointy, incisors are the flat edge 'biting' teeth at the front. Maybe 'front teeth' would be a better clue for this answer?
