Indolent should be accepted as a word that means lazy or slothful.

Added that. Thanks!

How about "inactive" or "immobile"?
+1
Level 79
Feb 4, 2020
@PrinceEric But those two words do not convey laziness, unlike 'indolent', which is the word I tried.
+1
Level 77

Thanks for that, I wouldn't have thought of "idle". To me that is just a computer or computer process that doesn't do anything at the moment. Or you idle when you stop chatting for a bit. Started with "insolent" and then had this vibe and tried again and got it. I am also sure that I wrote something like "indigenous" but must've spelled it totally wrong.

please add "icon" as an answer for graven image. thanks

Definitely this. Look up the iconoclasts. Those people hate graven images.

Icon/Ikon will work now.

invincible for not capable of dying?
+3
Level 86
Jul 8, 2018
An invincible person could still die of old age, for example.
+1
Level 76
Apr 3, 2023
"Invincible" mean that you can't be harmed. "Immortal" means that you can't die.

Thought of many words for "lazy, slothful" but not the ones listed! Inept, incompetent, incapable, impossible, irresponsible....but technically those all have slightly different meanings, of course.

I tried irksome, I know it wasn't it but I liked the word and well it sort of suits ;)

It would be a nice addition ( though tons of interesting words to choose from ofcourse.) Irksome :)

This quiz was fun, but for some reason for "ignorant", I guessed every word I could think of starting with I except for ignorant. I even tried "ill-informed", to no avail.

"Subdivision" is such an odd way to describe an inning. I was thinking of an area of the field, not how the games are partitioned.

Level 74
Mar 12, 2016
but that wouldn't be a subdivision of a match?

Perhaps incombustible for non-reactive in chemistry?

For inert I would have made the clue, type of gas or something like that. Atleast I would have gotten it then, case I only know the term inert in combiantion with gas. But I am sure there would be someone else making a comment about it then ;)

Infirmary is not a word I hear much these days. More often I hear health center or clinic. Is it still common elsewhere?

...i wouldn't have called it a hospital within a hospital...

infirmary is used quite regularly in the military still
+1

how about "interest" for monetary earnings? I also thought about "intensive care" for hospital within a hospital. Nice quiz tho'.

Invulnerable means that you're "incapable of being wounded, hurt, or damaged," which implies that you're not capable of dying. I'm embarrassed to say I was so hung up on this as being the correct answer that I overlooked the obvious, immortal. Just saying.
+1
Level 63
Apr 10, 2022
Invulnerable only makes you immune to physical damage, it doesn't make you immortal. You could still die from disease for example. In fact immortals may not be invulnerable, characters like Wolverine are immortal but they certainly aren't invulnerable because if you hit him hard enough he'll go unconscious.

How about "inhabitant" for native to a particular region?
+1
Level 65

Indigenous Inhabitants

Inhabitants don't have to be native to the region.

How about "invincible" for incapable of dying?
+1
Level 76
Aug 21, 2015
How about "inoculated" for not vulnerable to a disease?
+2
Level 37
Nov 24, 2017
Inoculated is not correct because you can be inoculated against the flu and still get a weakened form of the malady. Immune means that you cannot get the disease (sometimes because you've already had it and at other times because you are naturally immune to it).
+1
Level 74
Aug 21, 2015
"Indemic" also means native to a particular region
+5
Level 72
Dec 9, 2015
But it's "endemic".

Level 60
Aug 21, 2015
I think 'icon' fits the clue at least as well as 'idol' - could you add that please?
+2
Level 68
Oct 19, 2015
Ca you please change the wording of immortal. Immortal means can't die of natural causes, like a vampire, but can still be killed. Invinsible means can't be killed.
+1
Level 71
Jan 8, 2016
Immortal = Lasts or lives forever (Oxford Dictionary)

Invincible (note spelling) = Too powerful to be defeated or overcome

PS There are no such beings as Vampires that cannot die of natural causes, a person can drink blood if they wish to do so but will have no special powers (apart from a strong stomach)

+1
Level 65
Aug 19, 2019
The guys from highlander were immortal but could be killed, because well, There Could Be Only One...
+1
Level 76
Aug 10, 2020
Maybe 'immortal' is sometimes used that way, but the general meaning is 'never dying', no matter whether that is natural causes or killed. Invincible doesn't necessarily mean 'can't be killed'. An invincible tennis player never loses a tennis match but can be killed.

Hey, QM, have you ever thought of preparing a quiz where every word in every language regardless of how it has been spelled is a correct answer to every clue in the quiz? Maybe that way everyone would be happy. Like "schnozzle wall" is acceptable for septum or twinkle butt is okay for firefly???

Please can ice house (or icehouse) be included as an alternate answer to the predecessor to the refrigerator question? Both the ice house and the icebox were non-electric methods used to keep food fresh, with the icebox being a smaller version of the house.
