I guess Buffy fans have better things to do than rate shows on IMDB...

Or MASH, Happy Days, All in the Family...apparently only younger people rate shows on IMDb.

I guess this is payback for all those Rolling Stone Magazine's "best music" lists that I do really well on and the younger ones whine about.

It would go worse if it lasted for 7 seasons as well

perhaps. Some shows didn't even peak until after their 7th season. For South Park it was seasons 8-10.

I'm surprised to see that television did not exist before 1994. No Cheers, no All in the Family, no I Love Lucy, no Happy Days, no Cosby Show. Looks like this list is made by bored college students.

Twilight zone is from 1959. I agree there are not a lot of old shows, but not to the degree you are describing

It's not that television didn't exist before 1994 it's that it has gotten SO much better. All those old sitcoms are so much incredibly banal, trite, predictable, cookie cutter, unfunny, saccharin garbage. Breaking Bad had an amazing story, acting, drama, character development with actual story arcs and interesting cinematography etc. Cosby never had any of that. Even kids shows have gotten leaps and bounds better. I mean, I would watch Thundercats with rapt attention as a child but I have to admit it's a terrible show next to Samurai Jack, Spongebob, or almost anything from more recent decades. You'd have to go back to very early Disney and Warner Bros stuff to find anything comparable.

Spongebob has no redeeming qualities. None.

All this means is I have to go to IMDB and rate down some crap shows. And rate up some good ones.

I always thought Breaking Bad was overrated, but it's no doubt a great show. I don't get the spinoff, though. I mean, I've watched the first eight episodes. It's not poorly made. But is it really rated that highly? It's so boring. More stuff happened in the first episode of Breaking Bad than in the first eight of Better Call Saul, and people complained about Breaking Bad having a slow-boiled pace. BCS is just excruciating. They've got 2 or 3 episodes left in the first season and so far almost nothing has happened.

I gave up on Better Call Saul. It seemed they'd escalated the stylistic elements - and it looked very nice - but had sacrificed anything in the way of plot. I think I've seen glaciers move faster. I mean, perhaps if you cut it down to its essentials by dumping about 80% of its run time it might have a decent plot hiding in there, I dunno.

I rewatched the last half of season 1 of BCS and made it to the end this time and then watched season 2; it does actually get better, I think. Still slow as molasses, but, they've done some good things with the show. Ironically now that I appreciate it a bit more it's much farther down in the rankings than it used to be.

The trick with this quiz is not to guess shows that are necessarily good...but rather, shows that have rabid fanbases. I know that there is a very vocal fanbase for shows like Firefly, Modern Family, and Arrested Development, and despite having never seen them, figured they were good guesses either way.

If everyone who complained about their old TV shows not being on this quiz then make an IMDB account and rate the shows you love to boost them up its that simple. You clearly have a computer, don't let the "hipsters" take over.
