Great quiz. Just think you might need to add the cavet that this is their main instument. McCartney for instance, is also pretty good on the piano.

Good quiz, but it could use more variety of instruments, so there aren't so many repeats. Like maybe Yo-Yo Ma, Ravi Shankar, Keiko Abe; maybe even Tuba Gooding Jr. :)

In bands, "bass" usually means double bass. McCartney played bass guitar.

in rock bands bass usually means bass guitar, due to the notable lack of any acoustic instruments.

I ve only ever heard bass being used to mean bass guitar, never double bass, in that case it is always double bass or contrabass.

Can I just say that Paganini really missed his calling? I'm thinking a small flute would've suited him better...

'Double Bass' really needs to be added for Mingus. Its more correct than the current answer of Bass.

I was desperately trying variations of "Double bass" and almost gave up. Seriously, that could partly explain the low percentage.

Ron Burgundy actually plays the jazz flute! There is a big difference and this should not be allowed!

As a flute player, they're still both flutes. It's just how you play them that makes the difference, although certain companies manufacture flutes with the aim of them being played for jazz/concert bands. The differences would be so minimal as to not make it an entire different instrument. Bass and alto flutes are commonly used in jazz as well (although Ron Burgundy's is a concert/soprano flute), and it is these some people may mistake for "jazz flutes" but they're just still flutes, in a different range.

You need to accept harpsichord in addition to organ for Bach. He learned it earlier and was just as prolific on it.

Pan flute much better known as pan pipes in UK. Mingus also well-known for piano. Agree Harpsicord should be accepted for JS Bach.
