With all of the Geography quizzes on this site, i'm REALLY surprised to see Jutland bringing up the rear.

For French version of John, I was thinking "Jacques" like Frère Jacques.

Jacques is the French form of Jack.

Isn't Jacques more like James?

Jean is french for John (they come from Johannes). Jacques is french for James (they both come from Jacomus I think). Jack and Jacques are what we call "false friends".

Jacques and James are from the biblical Jacob.

But it accepts things like "Junea" for Juneau and "Jekyl" for Jekyl, so Janice is reasonable.

It would be quite concerning if it didn't accept "Jekyl" for Jekyl.

Again, giving in to idiocy. Janis Joplin is not Janice Joplin, any more than Kuala Lumpur is Kuala Lampur (which, by the way,,this quiz does not accept).

By this logic, Janet Joplin should be accepted, too.

Idiocy, really? Janis and Janice sound exactly the same. Lumpur and Lampur don't. Give the man a break...

what crusher said, if it is a logical spelling and it sounds nearly exactly the same ( your examples do not come close) it is reasonable to accept. Unless it is words you see written al over the place. In which case you can be more firm and expect a better spelling.

For example, ingland might sound like england.. but should not be accepted because it is a word you come across written very often.

So 47% know Jeb at the time of my comment. Will this rise over the next year?

Are we part of a cunning research project to see if a brand / politician's recognition is changing over time?

With how lenient the site is with certain country names (cough cough "Portagel"), you'd think we could get a bit of a break on Jekyll with a heckin' y double l like that ever comes up anywhere else. I mean sure, it's super famous, but also I've heard/said it about a thousand times more frequently than read/written it.

Also it is not, like, clearly more famous than Portugal.

Me too! Jeckel, Jeckell, Jekel, Jeckell, Jecel, etc &c et al... English jetpunk allows so many more misspellings than the French quizzes, it's really frustrating it doesn't accept any of these...
