Rats, I keep forgetting Rangoon was changed. Couldn't think of any "Y" cities in Burma.

I didn't know that until I read your comment. I even tried Rangoon on the, very remote, off chance It would be allowed.

I thought it still had two "o"s.

I only knew about half and thought that surely "Ypres" would be one of the answers, so typed it in just for the heck of it. Sadly that did not work.

How about yttrium ytterbium etc, the town that had several elements named after it.

The town is called Ytterby, and I would support its addition considering having four elements named after a town is quite the accomplishment

only one I missed. What about Yonkers?

I'm guessing "Yuma" is just a pop culture reference I don't get. I do get geography though, so the only other one I missed was Yellowknife. Besides the native Inuits, Eskimos, etc. does any substantial population even live in the Northwest Territories?

The Inuit live mostly in Nunavut. Eskimo is a term used only in Alaska. The Dene nation lives in the North West Territories along with other native and non-native people.

Damn. Tried Yakutia but didn't try Yakutsk, on the basis that the former is the region, the latter the city. Never played Risk.

Neither is close to Irkutsk, though maybe in Risk it is.

Around a 3 hour flight between the two cities. 3160km if you are driving.

Maybe "Russian city with coldness records, namesake of a Risk area" would be a better clue for Yakutsk (even if Verkhoyansk is colder, it's not nearly as big of a city and it doesn't even match with the theme of the quiz, nor the second part of the clue).

No Yaoundé? I was so certain it would be somewhere in the answers, I've typed it in at the beginning...

My grandfather was in the eighth battalion from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and survived the Second battle of Ypres, so I couldn't miss that one.

Yamoussoukrou or Yaoundé would be nice additions as you'd have something in Africa :)

Got all 17 on the first try. Managed to remember Ypres from a Charlie Brown episode I watched when I was younger, but I have no clue about the actual significance of the battle.

Can you accept Ypern? I could never remember Ypres. Cause the gas is called Yperite and not Yprenite
