Did Tommy John have a surgery named after him? Never heard that term before.

Also, the 4th question reminds me of all the weird deep statistics they read out at games.

Tommy John surgery is indeed named after Tommy John, the first baseball player to successfully recover from UCL reconstruction. Not only did he come back from what was a career-ender (at the time) he actually became better (at least statswise) after the surgery.

Mantle and Maris were not referred to as the M&M Boys in the 1950s and 60s. Maris did not join the Yankees until 1960.

I was surprised at this comment until looking up Roger Maris. He did indeed only play from 1960-66. They were, however, referred to as the M&M boys in the 60s.

Three-finger Brown. We're likely to refer to players by their disabilities today. In the 1890s you also had Dummy Hoy and Dummy Taylor, so nicknamed because they were deaf.

Ernie Lombardi was known as Schnozz because of his large nose. He was quite sensitive about that.

Before he was a Dodger, Jackie Robinson played in the negro leagues, and was inducted into the HOF in 1962 -- 9 years before Satchell Paige was. So how is Paige the first Negro League player to inducted into the Hall of Fame?

Jackie Robinson was inducted for his accomplishments in the MLB, not what he did in the Negro League. Paige did play in the MLB, but he was long-past his prime by the time he got there. He was inducted for what he accomplished in the Negro League. You're right that Jackie Robinson is correct to the question as worded, but (at least to me) it was intending to ask which player was the first to be enshrined based on what he did in the Negro League.

This is mostly about pitchers to be quite honest

I count seven questions about pitchers, one of which is about someone who is famously both a hitter and a pitcher. Not sure how that qualifies as "mostly."

I was really hoping that Mordecai Brown was known as Uncle Charlie, for some reason. It would have been cool to know that the nickname Uncle Charlie for a curve ball is named after a real person, but alas.

David Wells had Tommy John surgery in 1985 and went on to win 239 MLB games after that. I'm not sure if that's the most (because I don't know where there's a definitive list of post-Tommy John stats), but it is more than the 164 games John won after his own surgery.
