Eye and heart don't make the list but eybrow and butt do? That seems suspect.

Organ is sort of a broad category and should be in the excluded list. And speaking of that, why is "rod" on the excluded list? I doubt we are down to the rods and cones of the eye and the only other reference would be on the questionable list anyway.

Also, it's a politically-correct quiz. I'm pretty sure that some of the most commonly used words refer to people's "private parts". At least in my native Denmark that would be the case. :)

I am surprised at not seeing "nail". Although it's one of those words where you need to check the context to see if it's used as a body part or as a building product. I wonder how that works anyway as there are other words there too that don't always refer to body parts.

I also tried teeth and when that didn't work I didn't even try tooth. Even here in Kentucky we generally have more than one tooth - contrary to popular belief.

Stupid quiz, who calls their arse/backside/bum a "butt"?

What about genitals... none of those work. Are you telling me you asked a bunch of people to name bodyparts and they named "forehead" before they gave numerous names for their knackers? Haway man.

Americans say butt, and would not be caught dead saying backside or bum, let alone arse. Plus, I don't know what my "knackers" even are (nor does my spell check). Some things are just regional!

Americans do say backside, bum, arse, fanny, etc.... but usually only when they're trying to sound intentionally ridiculous for comedic effect. "Backside" has some limited mainstream popularity in the American South. "Bottom" is favored among prudes who think "butt" is too racy. "Hiney," "seat," "caboose" maybe among small children or those speaking to them. Tush, Tucchus, Rear End.... there are so many words for butts and sex organs.

Butt is short for buttocks, but I was never allowed to say it when I was young although Mom didn't say anything when my brothers did. It was considered a vulgar word nice young ladies didn't say in the 1950s and early '60s. I had to say "bottom". BTW, Kalba, when my daughter went to school in Australia, she was warned not to say fanny when meaning buttocks. Apparently it has a completely different meaning there.

Good quiz, a bit more flexibility on type-ins would be nice. As some of the others have said, bottom, backside, and even arse/ass etc for 'butt' and the likes of teeth for 'tooth'.
+2
Level 67

The quiz is about most commonly used words. If "butt" is used more often than backside (what a weird word) or ass, nothing the quizmaster can do about it. Accepting synonyms would go against the basic concept of the quiz.

Body "part" quiz? The problem is that this quiz - the most flawed quiz on this entire site - doesn't know what a body part is, nor how to account for "double-count."

Arms and Legs ARE limbs. To accept them both is just absurd. Words that describe general regions of the human facade, such as face, IS NOT ACTUALLY A BODY PART!

The heart, lung, liver, etc. ARE organs. Yet again - this is a double-count. This list needs serious fixing. At least change the title to "any random words pertaining to the body" because it most certainly is NOT about body parts!

Face is not a body part? Interesting.

The face is a part of the body and the nose is a part of the body, yet the nose is also a part of the face. See how that works? This is a quiz about the most used words pertaining to body parts in everyday language, not an attempt to divide the body into 46 exclusive parts or anything like that.

I wondered if words with multiple meanings such as organ were counted only when used as a body part, or if the tally was the number of times the word was used, regardless of meaning.
+1
Level 81

If I remember correctly from my one linguistics class in college, this corpus (and presumably other major ones) keeps track of all the different meanings of a word when keeping a frequency tally (and that info is listed). However, the "ranking" just combines all the meanings together.

I think you should accept teeth for tooth. You accept eye for eyes and other single organs.

I did also try bum and ass... Not accepted but butt is there. That is more an American term

I'm sorry, but some of this just doesn't make sense. I feel like you should keep the answers either general or specific. Why are organ, muscle, bone, and limb included, and so are variations of specificity of these, i.e. leg, lung, heart, skin ect. Also, I don't get why muscle is included, but fat is not, as they are simply different bodily components, both crucial to survival, and given at birth.

*expects to get shot. I dont think organ should be on this list, since it refers to more than one thing.

When bum, ass and behind didnt work I figured it would fall in the "questionable" category and was excluded. So was very surprised to see butt up there (in other body part or similar quizes, that part of the body is often excluded).

On a side note. Extremely surprised wrist isnt on it, but ankle did make it. And also I expected gut to be on there ( since you have the expressions gut feeling) I cant imagine the word eyebrow is used more often than gut.
