The original poster doesn't look like the description above. It's a drawing of humans in a big cage with an image of Dr. Zaius on an inset. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063442/
Alright but there are still people who haven't seen the film. There is a tendency nowadays to casually reveal plot twists of older movies becuase they're so famous - but there'll always be new generations. They should be able to have a 'virginal' movie experience. I guess Psycho would've been a lot more thrilling for me hadn't the world been full of spoilers about this one damn scene.
I think there's got to be a statute of limitations for movie spoilers, and it probably isn't longer than a year. At some point, you just have to get used to the fact that things will be in the common consciousness, and referred to, even if you haven't yet seen the movies.
Got all but the last two. Have definitely seen the MASH poster but couldn't remember which movie it was for. Memento was a great film but I don't think I ever saw the poster for it. Didn't catch that one until it came out on DVD.
Wasn't the flying saucer over the White House and NOT the Empire State Building? I thought of Independence Day, but did not try it, because I was sure it was incorrect.
That's how I remember it too! But eyewitness accounts are notoriously inaccurate. Instead of relying on my faulty memory, I used the internet. (Which, as we all know, is never wrong).
There was a poster for both. Here's the empire state one: https://www.movieposter.com/poster/A70-13387/Independence_Day.html. And you can buy it for only $60!
Awesome quiz! I figured I'd be lucky to get 2 or 3 from the title, not the kind of thing that usually sticks in my head... or so I thought. I got 15, and had a lot of fun! Thanks.
Great quiz! Doesn't seem like movie posters have the same cache as they once did, but definitely some memorable ones when they are done right! Could do a series on these.
No, it didn't. At least, not for the actual theatrical release. This comes from years or even decades later, long after the ending became common knowledge. Most likely it's actually describing the home video/DVD cover, or just a poster sold in stores.
When, oh when is Jet Punk gonna accept BTTF for Back to the future? So much time gone to waste typing those extra letters... (And writing this comment.)
The B2TF poster is quite hilarious really. Does Marty's watch somehow tell him the year that he has travelled to? And he's shocked to see this, rather than the actual 1950's around him?
Obviously not the most memorable film. Most people will probably remember the TV series, but not all of them know that it was preceded by a feature movie. Kinda similar to "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams".
Or is he just amazed that it's 1:45pm?
The original poster showed clothed apes handling and caging humans.
