These quizzes really make it clear which era of music I grew up with. I know nearly all from late 70s to mid 90s, a few from earlier, and not many recent ones.

And no Pretenders, alas!

5+ years later, lots of other good ones that could go on here. Peter Gabriel, Pretenders, Pet Shop Boys stand out to me.

Prince, Paul McCartney, Public Enemy, Paul Simon, The Police and Pink Floyd are all in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for crying out loud. And you could easily argue that Pearl Jam will be there soon enough too...

But you're only gonna pick two from that quiz that are "better" than The Pixies? I'm guessing The Proclaimers and The POTUSes....

It's hard to compare different styles, but I think that Pixies is definitely the best rock band in this list. I mean, Pearl Jam, The Police, Pulp, McCartney and Pink Floyd are good, but Pixies was something special around 1990, really visionary, the core of alternative rock. As for the R&R HoF, it doesn't prove anything, there are many amazing bands that will never be featured because they are not popular in the USA...

Pixies, to me, are quite possibly the greatest band in the history of music. Before anyone says "You can't say that! The Beatles...", let me just point out that I said "to me". The Beatles were brilliant, obviously, but it was Pixies and The Smiths who really blew me away.

i saw the Pixies on back to back nights open for Jane's Addiction and while they were good, Jane's blew them away. years later i saw them and Frank didn't say one word to the audience all night...lame. But I feel the way you do about them about the White Stripes...I saw them like 10 times between 2003 and 2007...epic every time!

I'm not a Brit and I got the Pixies. I like them. Not as noteworthy as Prince or Pink Floyd, though. And arguably several others here.

The music I like is superior to the music you like. You don't know the acts I do and that is sad. I fear for the future because my tastes differ from yours. Whatever will we do?

I think Where Is My Mind is a little better-known, maybe just for its memorable place in Fight Club. Gigantic shows up a lot too. Those two and Here Comes Your Man are definitely their best.

Where is my mind?- 250+ million spotify plays

Here Comes Your Man - 80+ million spotify plays

and i think Monkey is hovering around 30 or so.
