Yes, but he reinvented himself upon arriving in NYC. Duke Ellington was from Washington, D.C., but the same was true for him--and Billy Strayhorn, who wrote "Take the A Train," was from Pittsburgh, but he did the same. These are all artists associated with a particular NYC musical scene.

yes, the quiz name says these people are from New York. They are not, and should not be here.

I agree, there are plenty of artists who are actually from New York City without using all these people who came from elsewhere. Bob Dylan certainly did a lot of songwriting before he came to New York. The Talking Heads are from Scotland, France, California, and Milwaukee, and were musicians before they went to New York. So the band originated in New York, but the people did not. Lou Reed of Velvet Underground, on the other hand is all New York, through and through.

The quiz is "musical acts from NYC," not "musicians born in NYC." Many of these people weren't actually born there- Dylan (Hibbing, MN), Ellington (DC), Rostam from VW (DC), John Cale (Scotland?)- but all became famous in New York. I think QM understands the difference.

I have a few songs of the least guessed band but I didn't know the two songs mentioned. Seeing the low % maybe that was the case for others as well.

Fun quiz! Maybe add a few type-ins for Puff Daddy? P Diddy was the first thing I tried, even though I always thought it was a stupid nickname. If nothing else, Sean Combs should work. I got the accepted answer eventually, but even so.
