I thought warlocks were the male equivalents of witches....at least they were on Bewitched!

They were until Harry Potter came along and decided to call the female students witches instead of sorceresses or something else.

Well the founders of Hogwartz were all here before bewitched and they were witches and wizards so your argument is invalid.

In the Potterverse, all magical males are wizards but only those with exceptional skills or who look really fierce are called warlocks. It can also be an official title. Dumbledore was a Warlock of the Wizengamot.

Yes, yes it should. That is still the official team name. Knicks is just a knick name. Ha, get it? Knick name...

Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes. Which makes sense as they were originally the minneapolis lakers before they were moved to LA.

Yes. Politically, hawks are willing to wage war, doves strive for peace.

As a Brit I only knew some of these, so there was a fair amount of guesswork and lateral thinking involved, and I didn't score amazingly, but still enjoyed it. I feel like I learnt some things - not least that Minnesota is know as 'The Land of 10,000 Lakes', which I am sure is the kind of fact that will come up in some future quizz, either on this site or somewhere else.

I'm American and I missed ten. I'm not into b-ball and know only what I've learned from previous quizzes on this site. All Americans are not experts on every sport played in the US.

Dec 9, 2019
Well her marketing thing was to say that she "goes rogue" (ugh), but McCain was definitely the Maverick and Palin tried to convey the same image when she was his running mate.

maybe choose a clue more relatable for dove opposites --> taloned bird, and something different for bucks, maybe male deer. Other than that good quiz.

it's a reference to politics. people who prefer peace are "doves." people who think we need war are "hawks." it's really, really old terminology. pretty ubiquitous, if you follow politics at all.

Ubiquitous if you follow politics in countries where English is spoken, perhaps. I didn't get it, but was glad to be reminded of this metaphor.

For a lot of these I thought of a team name and then went looking for a clue that might match it. Took me forever to come up with Cavaliers because I'm so used to abbreviating them as Cavs that I momentarily forgot what it actually stood for.
