I don't see why it says "one jerk it hogging a lot NHL records"

Because the quizmaster didnt bother to put goals in a season, assists all-time, assists season, goals by centerman, assists by centerman, total points in career or season, goals, assists, or points in stanley cup playoffs, most MYPs, etc. because Gretzky owns all of those records and many more!

Wayne Gretzky had his name on 61 different records when he retired (including most goals, assists, and points in his career). Since he holds so many of the obvious records, the ones that appear in this quiz are more obscure.

Gretzky has more assists than anyone has points. So if he never scored a goal he'd still be the all-time points leader. Ridiculous.

Wayne Gretzky is the most dominant athlete in a team sport in the 20th century, and maybe ever. His records are absolutely unbelievable.

Gretzky had 50 hat tricks in his career. He had 10 hat tricks in a season, twice. He broke the "fastest to 50 goals in a season" record, 50 in 50, by 11 games, doing it in 39 games. Mario Lemieux had 199 points once. Gretzky averaged 203 points per season for 6 years. Only two other players have hit 100+ assists in a season. Gretzky did it 11 times. He set a new goal, assist, points or post season scoring record 7 of the first 8 years in the league. The guy was unreal.

I feel like a lot of these record-holders have ties to the Detroit Red Wings. HOCKEYTOWN!

Hockeytown, US, maybe. There isn't a single municipality in Canada that doesn't a) know more about hockey; b) care more about hockey; and c) play more hockey (per person) than Detroit. So, enjoy your more localized title.

I feel like most Canadians and hockey fans are aware that Detroit is semi-officially "hockey town". The Redwings even have a trademark for it.

Jacques Plante has more Vezina trophies -- if you're counting the number of Vezinas since they looked solely at GAA, then that's different.

I think it might be because Plante's 7th Vezina victory was shared with Glenn Hall, but he should at least be tied with Hasek.

Minnesota is the most popular birthplace state for professional hockey players and typically college hockey players as well. There are five NCAA Division I hockey programs in the state and one on its borders. Minnesota has the nickname "State of Hockey" and gives mention to it in the NHL team's anthem.
