Updated this quiz to use metro areas instead of cities.

Level 14

Minnesota should be accepted for Minneapolis

Level 80
Jun 12, 2013
Even by the most liberal definition of metro area I don't think anyone would contend that the metro area of Minneapolis encompasses the entire state of Minnesota.
+3
Level 61
Jun 25, 2013
it should say minneapolis/st. paul as the wild play in st paul.
+2
Level 34
May 26, 2014
No because then you could put california, texas, and every other state. Don't try to cheat

I think his comment was meant to reflect that the Vikings are the Minnesota Vikings, the Twins are also Minnesota Twins...even if both really play in Minneapolis and not in, say, Duluth, or in St. Paul, where the Saints play.

So then we should also accept the city of New England?

I think it would make much more sense to accept "Twin Cities"

if you thought it was US metro areas only, you would have missed more than one???

40 of 41 US cities he meant
+1
Level 54
Oct 29, 2013
I didn't really "mistake" it; just wasn't thinking about Canadians, and I got all 41 US cities with lots of time to spare. Was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how I was missing a city with 3 major sports teams... Toronto. Not much of a hockey fan, so the others, pfft.
+1
Level 22
Nov 27, 2013
it's easy to forget the Canadians

It's okay...most Canadians try to forget about the Toronto hockey team as well...

as a Canadian they where the first ones i got
+1
Level 64
Mar 9, 2020
I love how so many people in the comments are saying they forgot Canada and yet, Raleigh is still doing worse than all the Canadian cities (at least as of right now). Probably more to do with people not knowing hockey, and those who do have no clue where the Carolina Hurricanes play, but it's still funny to me.

Much improved, Quizmaster. No more problems with Newark, East Rutherford, Foxborough, and the like. Only minor quibble is that, while I think it's great that you accept Newark for NYC metro and San Jose for San Francisco metro, you should extend the same courtesy to St. Paul, St. Petersburg, and Anaheim.

Why is Pittsburg accepted for Pittsburgh?
+1
Level 41

For the answer to be correct the correct spelling should be required.

I disagree, this isn't a spelling quiz. If you know Pittsburgh has a team and you slightly misspell it you have still demonstrated that you know the answer.

Sacramento should be included in Bay Area
+2
Level 70
Mar 23, 2015
The Bay Area doesn't include Sacramento. Nobody, when they talk about the Bay Area, thinks of Sacramento. It's halfway to Nevada, that'd be like calling Bakersfield part of Los Angeles.
+2
Level 62
Jan 2, 2018
As I live near Sacramento. We don't like to be associated with the Bay Area. We like just being Sacramento. Not San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, etc. Since Sacramento doesn't even touch the San Francisco Bay and we are about a 2 hour drive away.

Not until the Raiders actually move to Vegas, which will happen in either 2019 or 2020... Which is really sad to Oakland: having to host during at least two years a team whose owner has shown them the middle finger.
+1
Level 50

+1. I'm kind of hoping the city of Oakland shows the owners how they feel about the move by having a mostly empty stadium the next few seasons. But of course, that won't happen.
