You guys are all so pretentious. I get good laughs reading comments on here by people who love to try to dictate what is culture. You are all so cultured! You set the standards of what is good and what is not- what is talent and what is not! Congratulations! We look to you for guidance on all things!

The lyric is sort of a pun..."Isn't it good, Norwegian Wood" means "Isn't it good, knowing she would." In other words, have sex with you.

I read that Paul, not John, wrote the specific "Norwegian Wood" lyric even though John is the song's principal author. They were skiing in Europe, and the cabins were decked out in Norwegian wood, which was very popular at the time. Paul was imagining the man (John, I guess) showing his woman around a ski cabin, and commenting on the decor.

Not so hard to believe, really. Every other title on here (with a possible asterisk next to Sweet Dreams) can be guessed by having simply heard the song - the parenthesized part of the song title is featured very prominently in the chorus of every one. The words "This Bird Has Flown" appear only once in Norwegian Wood near the end of the song, not in a chorus that's repeated over and over again - quite easily missed IMO.

Not too sure about the "pop crap" you're talking about. There are only 2 songs on this list made in the 2000's...Beyoncé & The Proclaimers. I think you need to be a pretty big fan on the Beatles to get the Norwegian Wood song. I've never even heard of it.

The Proclaimers’ song is from 1988 - not the 2000s...

I didn't know Norwegian Wood had a parenthesis part to the title. I also didn't know it was a Beatles song. I have a version of it by a band called The Navigators, I knew it wasn't an original of theirs, but I never googled the song, either, and I'm not much a Beatles fan.

I can't imagine unironically making a comment like this and not feeling like a complete tool. I really hope this is a troll comment. I refuse to believe people are really this pretentious when it comes to music.

You thought so for good reason. Annie Lennox really bends that note. She sings "sweet dreams are made of theee-iss." You have to listen really closely to tell it's "this" and not "these." "These" also fits the rhyme scheme better. The rest of the chorus includes "who am I to disagree...travel the world and the seven seas." In Marilyn Manson's version, he just sings "these."

Come on, give credit where it's due. Carole King wrote and recorded "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." I know Aretha did it too, and had King never performed it, that'd be cool, but since she wrote and performed it, you really should list her.
