Why'd I make this quiz? I have been making a series of quizzes for celebrities in each decade. In the 1980s, I found that a disproportionate amount of public domain photos featured Ronald Reagan. Since I had the pictures, I felt like I might as well make the quiz.
But these aren't all necessarily from the 80s, are they? I am not saying that they should be or anything, just wondering. Like Powell? Was he known back then already or is that a lot later picture?
Powell was Reagan's National Security Advisor from '87 to '89. Then under Bush Sr. he was promoted to 4 star general and became Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
What does Illinois politics have anything to do with it? She was the presidents wife from Georgia. It was at a Polish Constitution day celebration. She was just doing a public appearance. The same can be said for Ted Bundy was an attendee at the 1968 Republican Convention and delegate for Rockefeller. Also was a spy for Republican governor Evans in Washington. Oh yeah he was chairman of the Republican Party in Washington state. The most ironic thing was Governor Evans appointed him to the Crime prevention Committee.
All the Popes look alike to me and I don't know any of their names, never heard of Retton or O'Connor. Have heard of Powell, but wouldn't know him if he stood up in my soup.
I 'm sure you're joking. The subjects I know least about and the quizzes I avoid are the ones about celebrities and popular culture, but even I know this lot!
I won't judge. Some people are just very bad at recognizing faces, especially when they look alike. There's even a disorder for it, Prosopagnosia. Personally, I only got 8 faces, but I still recognize almost every name on here (besides Bob Hope). Not being able to recognize faces isn't always a sign of ignorance.
I am 95% sure that the Picture with Arnold was at the 1984 Republican Convention. My mom was a delegate at that convention and has a picture with Arnold looking similar.
Pele, a great footballer, a great gentleman, a great ambassador for the sport, likeable, intelligent and humble. .......... Maradona, a great footballer, a cheat (hand of god), a confessed drug user, ........ NO, I think Pele is the correct choice here.
Reagan made the first tentative steps towards the United States admitting the existence of soccer. He broke ground that now has the professional sport enjoyed in 14 U.S. homes.
Why? Just why? Does he have buddies from 1932 who recognize him on this quiz and don't know he became a hugely influential worldwide figure known as John Paul II? Well guess what? The quiz succeeded. Now his friends learned something.
Why ?.seems most people on here who ask for real names of well known people / celebrities are just showing off. anyway thanks jetpunk for accepting Arnold again in a quiz.
Not necessarily an American icon, I kept trying Hank Aaron and other baseball stars. I could have guessed all day and not gotten Pele. Only one I missed though.
I think the quiz was updated to remove a harder one, but the stats weren't reset. Apparently, I took this quiz twice before (which I don't remember!), but my stats say I only got the Queen 33% of the time.
Yet another opportunity to suggest accepting JP2 for John Paul II, sitewide... other abbreviations are common on Jetpunk, and that one couldn't possibly refer to anyone else!
It'd be interesting to see them.
I think I might've recognized Pelé with a better photo.
