Definitely thought the "Achilles" was supposed to be "ankle".

Right. I thought ankle and anatomy.

Absolutely looks like ankle in the jumbled labelling.

didnt even cross my mind, I was still on the row above, but the picture came into my peripheral vision and already typed achilles, because it shows a tendon.

Would ve been funny if the word was ankle, might have stumped me for a little while haha. cause the word was nowhere in my mind

I wasted a good many seconds racking my brain for the identity of the person in the 11th picture!

Level 89
Mar 8, 2018
Agree, especially because it comes right after the pic of Adele, my mind was kind of set on finding the identity of the person rather than the pose the pic was suggesting.

Perhaps a diagram would better convey what was needed.
+2
Level 67

yes, a drawing and not a picture of an actual person. Though I know it is hard with copyright issues.

plus perhaps accept androgynous? if the sweater was one color (so no suggestion of chest), I wouldnt have been able to tell if it was a picture of a male or female.

LMAO I wasn't sure who it was supposed to be either, thought they were looking for someone whose name started with an A haha

Just chop her head off (the picture, not the girl).

It could just help to have "Arms ______" under the picture, to indicate it's something to do with the stance, rather than the person.

Yeah, that clue needs reworked. Not really sure it works, or that it is the best choice but hey, maybe the QM wanted a question no one would get!

Yeah, I think that one is too sneaky. I assumed it was someone I'd never heard of but I still went through all the A names I could of - Adams, Aniston, Arquette, etc.

Aqueduct is supposed to go over water...
+5
Level 83
Mar 9, 2018
That's the Pont du Gard, and not only did it once carry water, but it also goes over the River Gardon (which isn't visible in the picture).
+7
Level 67

It's pretty much the most well-known and best-preserved Roman aqueduct in the world... I don't think there is a better picture the Quizmaster could have found for the word.
+4
Level 71
May 12, 2018
An aqueduct is to carry water, not necessarily over water, but from source to usage, it may have to cross rivers or valleys on it's journey.

An aqueduct carries water
+5

It does. But do you actually need to see the water to guess the word, when the picture is of the most well-known Roman aqueduct in the world?

beegee's point was that it carries water as opposed to going over water.

(Like others seemingly) I have never ever heard of akimbo, apparently from the bent bow. (ken bogi, norse and kenboginn, icelandic). I thought androgynous.. You do see curvature in the chest, but solely by the face, plus no waist, looked quite androgynous to me.
+1
Level 56

Same on the akimbo. I'm familiar with the word but its usage somewhat differs - more refers to the position you might be in after a fall, when limbs are comically and clumsily waving about.

Seriously?! I put in ankle, wouldn't accept so I checked the spelling with my mum and on the internet (i'm only 9 years old). Turned out to be achilles? If you are going to put aqueduct, then you should have certainly put 'archway'. On another quiz I did, 'Pictures by letter-B' you had 'birch' so on this one I would either recommend putting 'ash' as in tree or 'ash' as in what comes from the fire. Apart from them, good quiz.

Same. But it should still be a photo without an identifiable face so that it is more clear that it's the pose and not the person
+1
Level 82

I very rarely complain that a question isn't fair, but 'akimbo' is definitely not fair unless you give an indication that it's the posture that you're looking for, not the name of the person.

I knew the term Akimbo from FPS games, where it means holding a weapon in each of your hands, but didn't know it's an actual pose.
