Peyton Manning is very easily recognizable to anyone who has ever followed NFL American football or watches any US television as he is now a spokesperson in many commercials. For me, this was as simple as "queen".

Level 74

I've heard of Peyton Manning and still didn't know who that was. The better picture that would have been recognizable would have been on the field, helmet on and waiting for the center to snap the ball.

I agree with that, a picture of a quarterback on the field would be more appropriate.

And for those of us who cannot stand Peyton Manning (it only got worse, in fact, after his retirement, with his State Farm and Papa John ads) it is traumatic having to look at his ugly horse face. How about Colin Kaepernick instead?

I would have picked another QB for this as well, but Kaepernick, I don't think so. There are many other better quarterbacks out there.

I don't watch soccer (football for non-American folks), but I don't complain about the numerous questions and quizzes that center around that sport. You just have to accept that there are topics about which you no very little about. It's just a quiz site.

Agree 100% with Malbaby. At least a picture with some clue about what job this Peyton person has would help the non-US people. A headshot that doesn't even show a uniform or a field doesn't give anything to go on.

Peyton Manning is one of the nicest, most decent men to ever play in the NFL. For someone to have utter distain for him and refer to him as having an "ugly horse face" says much more about the one saying that than it does about Peyton Manning. But that's the thing about shallow people. They don't know they're shallow and so fail to realize how they broadcast it when they open their mouth. The Dunning-Kruger effect is real.

@DonTheLamplighter Completely agree with everything you said. I grew up watching Peyton Manning as the Broncos quarterback, so maybe I'm biased, but he has always seemed like a great man. He and Drew Brees will probably always be a couple of my favorite players because they are not only great players on the field, but they are amazing people off it too.

You don't have to know who it is to guess that he's a quarterback (given that the answer must begin with q, of course).
+5
Level 66
Sep 1, 2018
I assumed it was someone whose name begins with Q. If it was a quiz for "P" letters and there was a picture of Pogba, how likely would you be to guess midfielder? Not exactly a fair comparison, either, as Pogba was stunning in the recent World Cup, so is probably much better known than Peyton (I originally wrote this message using Modric as an example, but as his name begins with "m", he could definitely be in the quiz with his name as the answer).

Level 76
Sep 1, 2018
Why would I assume that a picture of a man I do not recognize, with no football uniform visible, would be a quarterback? Maybe his first name is Quincy, Quinn, or Quentin. Maybe his last name is Quaid, Quinlan, Quackenbush, Quick, Quayle, Quimby, Quesada, Quigley, Quinlivan, Quintrell, or any of the other hundreds of family names that begin with "Q".

Level 83

You probably wouldn't assume it. This is a quiz site, right? A chance to test your knowledge? There was some knowledge you didn't have, so you missed the question. On a trivia site.

What's the objection? That there are things in the universe you, personally, don't know?

+1
Level 75
Sep 2, 2018
Well, he threw for more yards than any other quarterback in NFL history. Pogba is an excellent midfielder, but is he near the top of most people's lists for best ever? If you'd said Zidane, the comparison would be closer (putting aside the strained "p" aspect).

Americans don't queue, but you don't see them complaining aside from one remark about spelling. But maybe you could find a picture of the guy in uniform during a game.

I gave up on getting that one, but looking back at the picture realise he’s got helmet hair and that line across the forehead showing he’s just been sweating into a helmet. I should’ve done a bit of intuitive guessing from that - it’s not like there are millions of words beginning Q

The 'Quiche' looks really interesting, like a solid egg-custard with crumbed bacon on top, maybe a little chopped chives or something in the top of the custard. Most quiches I am used to have bacon or ham, tomatoes, capsicum etc chopped throughout the egg custard. (Lorraine)

Had no problem with the Quarterback question although QB would be a good alternative answer as that position is very often said and/or displayed as QB.

Also, why do people complain about a quiz being US Centric? Jetpunk is an American site. I am not going to go to The Guardian and complain about the lack of news about Kansas.
