well anyone can tell you that the great Warren G. was the first black president, not Obama.

;)

It was often rumored that Warren Harding had Black ancestors. DNA tests in the mid -1990's determined that he had no Black blood going

at least as far back as twenty generations. (That should satisfy even

the most rabid White Supremacist). As for Bill Clinton, I believe it was

Toni Morrison who jokingly referred to him as "Black" because of the

impeachment, his saxophone playing ability and the fact that he was the first candidate, since Bobby Kennedy, who seemed to genuinely care for the downtrodden in American society.

Don't. He made a very concerted effort to hide any evidence of it.

Did some digging on the whole vacation days thing, and there are many different numbers used out there. The best statement I found is: "There’s no such thing as a true non-working vacation for the president." So screw "vacation days," they are a completely arbitrary metric.

and yet the question and answer remain the same whether you find it offensive or not....trivia is amazing!

I agree, and I didn't support GWB or the current president, but I think a better measure is days away from the White House. That would be a way to factually state it, without implying whether or not the President did any actual work while away. Of course that equates trips to Asia or the G20 with golf trips in Honolulu or days cutting brush in Midland, Texas. But its measurable, not arbitrary, and not political - doesn't place a value judgment on those days' activities.

My personal belief is that most legislation and Presidential action in the last 30 or 40 years has been harmful, so vacation days should be a badge of honor. We need more Calvin Coolidge type Presidents.
+5
Level 82
Mar 21, 2021
ugh. wow that comes across as... myopic. We need more Teddy Roosevelt type presidents. Not more Bushes and Trumps. Though I guess the latter prove you can still do a lot of damage even when you spend most of your time on vacation, tweeting, or watching television. But presidents who did nothing and took a hand-off approach, when there is so much presently that needs aggressive fixing, would be far worse that one that actually had a positive vision and agenda and cared about getting stuff done. You want to leave everything to Congress? Or the free hand of the market? That doesn't mean that there won't be people meddling. All it means is that the corrupt greedy plutocrats, oligarchs, and hostile foreign autocrats who are already mostly running the show will be able to do so completely unimpeded. This is the chief problem with Anarchy and Libertarianism, too. You're voluntarily surrendering agency and sovereignty. Power vacuums will be filled.

Why not cover all of them? First President to have served as Vice President; Co-author of the Bill of Rights; Prominent opponent of European colonization of the Americas; Died while serving in the House of Representatives; Only President to speak English as a second language; Held office for only 31 days; His Accidency; The Napoleon of the Stump; Old Rough and Ready; Ran for President as a Know Nothing; Called a doughface by his opponents; Teetotaler; Less well-known than the cartoon character named after him; Collector of Customs at the Port of New York; Last President to have fought in the Civil War; Lent his name to temporary encampments of the homeless and unemployed during his administration; President of Columbia University; Reality show personality.

Dec 6, 2017
No. 70 when inaugurated
+2
Level 84
Dec 6, 2017
If the question were "oldest at the time of inauguration," the answer would be Trump, by about 7 months. To be the oldest ever, he'd have to be re-elected and survive to the end (almost), of his second term.
+3
Level 82
Dec 7, 2017
But Ronald Reagan was inaugurated twice. The 2nd time he was 73.
+2
Level 82
Dec 7, 2017
and besides that the question is just oldest. Not oldest when inaugurated. So anyway... Trump is currently 71.
+5
Level 70
Apr 30, 2021

Not anymore.

Joe Biden was older at his inauguration (78 years, 61 days) than Reagan was when he left office (77 years, 349 days).

DJT previously held the inaugural age record (70 years, 220 days), but, thank god, only served one term.

This quiz is too US-centric. Why can't you include some leaders of African countries? How are us non-americans to be expected to know these things? I demand that this quiz be remade to include other countries because I cannot fathom the idea that a site with a userbase consisting mostly of Americans would have lots of quizzes focused on America and not have as many for other countries.

For the memoirs question, I first guessed the more literary-minded presidents, including Jefferson a second time.

Then, since Trump wasn't president yet when this was made and never would have been the answer to that question anyway, I guessed the only president since 1932 that was not an answer to any of the other questions--poor Ike. Then I guessed the only other president since 1901 not to make an appearance (Hoover deserves to be left out).

Then I gave up and got the answer by typing in the names of all the presidents who had not been the answer to any of the other question. Still had enough time left that I might have made it through to McKinley, the last one I hadn't already guessed and wasn't an answer to one of the other questions.

The same is thought about J. Edgar Hoover as well. Strange how many of these powerful macho leaders who persecuted deviants and spied on sexual exploits of other people were often involved in some odd stuff themselves, to be so vigilant about it.

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet - FDR was diagnosed with polio at the time, but there is significant evidence that he had a different paralytic disease called Guillain–Barré syndrome.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paralytic_illness_of_Franklin_D._Roosevelt

I believe the clue could be changed to "was paralyzed while in office" and would still be correct.
