When I saw this quiz, I thought it was the next step of general knowledge. There's easy general knowledge, and then there is general knowledge so easy a primate could do it.

I tried this and it didn't work, but I wrote the complete works of Shakespeare on accident.

This is the first quiz I've come across that Dem Rep of Congo hasn't worked for that country. And I left the "s" off of Homo Sapiens -- face palm moment.

I guess that wasn't very sapient! :)

Wow, I never knew that Sapiens was the correct term. I've been saying it as Sapien all my life.

I also thought that a group of monkeys was called a "troupe", like a group of musicians. I actually learn a ton from this site.

"Homo sapiens" to be precise. Genus capitalised, species lower case.

HIV is just the virus, the question is asking about the disease. So even though AIDS is an accepted answer it should also show as the correct answer. HIV should stay accepted.

You are all assuming that Darwin's evolutionary "theory" to be true rather than God's revelation through than biblical scripture.

That's because the theory of Evolution has mountains of evidence to back it up. Intelligent Design is an absurd fairy tale proposed by a few books.

From my experience, the exact opposite is true of both of these sentences. That being said, we are all entitled to our opinions. If someone doesn't want to believe in a creator, that's their choice and their right.

Ah - but who created and planted the 'evidence'? On the other hand, if God is omniscient, and we are created in his image, why are humans so damned thick?

I normally dont yet mixed up in religuous discussions. But in this case I am tempted to say; in both cases a book was written about the subject but only for one of those you can find evidence.

What deadly disease was spread from apes to humans in Africa in the early 20th century?

It was first diagnosed in humans in 1981. That's hardly early.

But the origin of the modern human strain is the 1920s.

Exactly. The question is meant to be interesting since most people think that HIV originated in the late 20th century when in reality it has been around much longer.

It didn't spread to the USA until 1981, where it was identified and diagnosed, but it had been infecting and killing people in Africa for decades before that.

Why is English literature part of a trivia ape quiz? As a non native English speaker it was impossible to get 19/19 because if that ridiculous "bovine is to cows as ____ is to monkeys"

If someone who doesn't know the word "simian" (and thinks it has something to do with literature) can still get 18/19 on a primate knowledge quiz, then the quiz is probably too easy.

What is ridiculous about knowing the infraorder of primates. You obviously know what the word primates mean, so why not simian? There is nothing wrong with the question it self and all questions require the english answer, so I dont see your issue with this one in particular. My native language is not English either and I had no issues with it. Btw I think my first exposure to the word was when I was studying (as a hobby, not officialy) Esperanto.
