Did okay... 80th percentile... feel like I should have done better. Though there were a bunch I guessed that I was sure would be on there and were not. Either those names are only popular in Latin America and not so much in Spain, or maybe they have fallen out of favor recently if this is based on recent baby names and not the general population.

Pilar, Jesus, Jose, Rosario are popular girl's names in Spain? No surprise I did so badly.

Never heard of pilar before either. But there is no jesus on the girls side, and jose is on the guys side aswell, so wouldnt have affected your score.

I'm very late for this but I'll answer anyways:

Pilar is a name pretty common in 40+ years old women (mostly in their 60s now) here in Spain, specially in the city I live in, Zaragoza. There's really a lot of Pilar here (no kidding, 20-30k at least in a city of 700k) since the Saint of this city is "La virgen del Pilar" and people used to give biblical and saint names to their children.

One of the great Spanish operatic sopranos was named Pilar Lorengar (originally Lorenza Pilar Garcia). And she was indeed from Zaragoza, though she made most of her career in Germany.

Jesus and Maria are gender neutral? That can make religion confusing!

girl's names: "Maria Jose", "Maria Angeles", "Maria Jesus", "Maria del Pilar"... boy's names: "Jose Maria", "Angel Maria", "Jesus Maria"... the important is the first name (I'm spanish)

Same in France with Marie-José or Pierre-Marie for exemple. But old fashioned.

The US has this too. The female name Mary-Joe.

Although I think it's usually spelled Mary-Jo.

Raúl is also Spanish, including famous football player, just apparently not that popular.

Concha should be accepted as an alternative for Concepción, is kind of like Joe for Joseph (or Pepe for José in Spanish)
