Fun quiz. Was curious how you were going to select people from the plays. Pretty good spread, even without Petruchio or Rosalind.

Ah, excellent work, Iago.

Isn't he the one who plots the downfall of the Moorish general and not the fairy king? I don't know if it's just me but on the layout I'm seeing the clue of "plots the downfall of the above" needs to be moved one spot up

Exactly! The only answer I could see was Titania because Oberon is the answer above. If it had been Othello I'd have had the answer and not been stuck on it.

Please move the questions so the answer you want comes out.

It is commonly misquoted, but the Mercutio quote should be, "A plague a' both your houses."

My copy says "A plague o' both your houses". Could make an entertaining quiz just on things that Mercutio says.

The B is not capitalized in "Macbeth."

When did Lady MacBeth fail to get a spot out?

When she went mad at the end. "Out damned spot." Granted, I don't think there really was a spot.

i think it alluded to imagined blood on her hand

What most people fail to realise is that in this quotation Lady Macbeth is in fact addressing her disobedient dog, Spot, who steadfastly refuses to go into the garden to relieve himself. We know this because Lady Macbeth instructs him to do both a number one and a number two ('one two I say'). She then changes the subject to talk about Duncan's death. Some enlightened directors have had a grumpy looking dog present in this scene but it is difficult to train a dog to behave reliably in such a violent atmosphere.

This is doubly hilarious if you've read much analysis of Shakespeare. The plays have been absolutely interpreted to death over 400 years, so the only way scholars can say something that no one has already said is to take increasingly preposterous stances and insist upon them.

I know there's a widespread feeling online that "-or" endings are automatically better :), but the word is in fact spelled "sorcerer."

Please change Mercutio’s line. It’s not “pox” but “plague”. Otherwise a great quiz, though!
