Since Ukraine and Poland are considered powerful, can you make a new question for them?

He’s not just picking random country pairs that he personally likes! For Poland & Ukraine to be on this quiz, they’d have to have rankings that warranted it.

They are powerful, he used GlobalFirePower as a source, and they are pretty accurate.

Poland and Ukraine have an average of 24, which is way too low to make the list as you can see yourself.

Poland is literally stronger than germany, its the eastern border of NATO, what do you expect

Yes, but only since this year. This quiz was last updated in 2019. I think an update is warranted though, although maybe a second quiz with the new data in addition to this quiz with the old data might be interesting to see what has changed since the beginning of WWIII.

Poland is in no single regard stronger than Germany. Global Firepower always has been inaccurate. They've been overvaluing Saudi Arabia for example for years

I have little quantitative data to back up my argument, but I think Poland overall has a stronger military than Germany regardless of what global firepower says. Poland has a long and unbroken military tradition, a patriotic population with many men willing to defend their country, is one of the few NATO countries who actually fulfilled their obligation to invest at least 2% of their GDP in defence, and most importantly is on NATO's eastern flank and batshit paranoid about Russia, not without reason given their history. They know the stakes, they take defence seriously. Germany, on the other hand, has long been plagued by morale issues, the only thing you hear about the military in German news is scandals and failed attempts at reform, equipment failure is a constant issue, they barely have any functional aircraft or submarine, and so on. Taking all this together, it's just a gut feeling, but if I had to bet, I'd bet on Poland.

Missing these:

Brazil & France with average 9

Switzerland & France with average 19

There's also the dodgy UK - Spain border, which, if counted, would make UK & Spain with 14 average.

I am not counting oversea areas.

France-Switzerland thing was a blunder while writing the quiz from my original research(document). I revised the whole quiz again. Waiting for approval.

Should probably count French Guiana as a constituent part of France, to be consistent with most other quizzes. But not Gibraltar.

Absolutely, no question, France-Brazil should count. Do you count Alaska or Hawaii as part of the U.S.?

I'd have to reset the stats to add them so it's not going to be added at this time. Thank you for being aware of the correct status of French Guiana.

kalbahamut, why not the Gibraltar/Spain border? It's a border. I crossed it this evening. What do you think exists on the southern side?

My favourite type of quiz. One that you don't have to be an expert in the matter, but can deduce with some geographical knowledge allied to some basic notions of who may have a large military. Great quiz.

Strange. There is Russia and Norway, but not Russia and Finland. According to Wikipeida Norway has active personnel about 23 000, Finland has 33 000. Norway has active reserve of 40 000, Finland has 380 000 (total reserve of 900 000). Norway has 52 main battle tanks, Finland has 200. Norway has 144 infantry fighting vehicles, Finland has 212. Norway has about 380 armored personnel carriers, Finland has 860. Norway has 12 multiple rocket launchers, Finland has 52. Norway has 80 self propelled gun, Finland has 110. Norway doesn't have artillery, Finland has 700. Norway has "some" mortars, Finland has 716. Finnish ground based anti aircraft is MUCH larger than Norwegian. Norway has 68 combat aircraft, Finland has 127. Only Norwegian Navy is stronger than Finnish Navy, so maybe it makes this all to turn upside down?

This is completely false. Almost all of the numbers you mentioned is wrong and believe it or not, Norway has artillery. How do I know? I'm currently serving in the norwegian armed forces as a artilleryman on a m109 canon.

Good quiz. A few were obvious, but others required a little more thought since one can't simply pick the most powerful nations, but needs to think about the averages of neighbours. Definitely needs France-Brazil added, but that's the only issue.

France - Brazil should be included. French Guiana is not a territory, it's a region and department of France proper; it's legally just as French as any other region. It's just as French as Hawaii or Alaska are American.

I do not understand the logic of the calculation behind. E.g. Russia 2,5 fold. stronger than China but both about 10 fold. stronger than North Korea
