What's funny is that if any of these people want to see these kinds of percentages by their names, this game is the only place to find them. Most are event breaking 1%. What a pathetic joke.
This quiz tests whether people have heard of these candidates. The "event breaking 1%" refers to their polling support, which will necessarily include several 1-per-cent-ers, because there are 20 of them and their sum total has to add to 100%. So it's not so much a "pathetic joke" as a reality of mathematics. The 1%-ers will be weeded out soon, because a 2% bar will apply from the third debate in August.
When Trump started out in the 2016 Republican primaries, he was under 5%, so for all these apparent no-hopers, never-say-never applies. They will drop out in good time and endorse others, partly helped on their way by the 2% threshold that will apply from the 3rd debate onwards.
None of these debates will come close to garnering the same numbers Nielsen-wise...Student loan forgiveness for all, reparations, and a hatred for The Donald may well not be enough to send your president to pasture after 2020.
Could you give us some more spelling options for Amy Klobuchar, especially some versions that start with a "C." I spent so much time typing cloveshar, clobuchar, clovachar, etc. (I get most of my news in podcast form, so I never see these names written.)
The top 1% pay almost 40% of the federal taxes. Nearly 50% pay 97% of the taxes. So basically 50% don't end up paying any federal taxes. How fair is that ?
I am not from the US. I would have never looked at this quiz if it was not featured on the front page. I have no idea who these people are and what a democratic debate is. To be honest, I also don't care. For me quizzes about American politics are even worse than about American sports.
I can't wait to see which one will promise the most "free stuff", and how many times they can talk about compassion, free healthcare, free college, gun control, open borders, the religion of peace, 89 genders, high taxes, fake "hate speech", global warming hysteria, and how many times they can cry "Orange man bad". It should be titled, "Who can promise the moon and go the furthest left?" This is no longer the working man's party for regular people-- it is the party of communist loons promising everything, offended by everything, etc. who care more about foreigners and virtue signaling than actual American citizens.
Right because your guy never makes any promises he can't deliver, and never puts the interests of foreign powers before Americans, never based his campaign on vilifying the other guy (or gal) or using immature put-downs, never promised "free stuff" that would be paid for by Mexico, and is SO in touch with the working man and the regular people at Mar a Lago. Some serious projection you got going there. As insane as far-left SJWs are, anyone who can see that as less desirable than what's on offer from the other side is surely even worse.
Just watched the first debate. Some of the candidates went hard left. Castro mentioned that he supports abortions for trans women. Not really sure where he was going with that one...
Other candidates (Klobuchar, Ryan, Delaney) struck a more conciliatory tone.
I know my opinion and vote doesn't matter but if I could pick from those 10 I'd go with Warren. But not sure she has a shot if Castro has already locked down the pregnant transvestites without a uterus vote.
He probably meant trans men, so people with uterus. Not transvestites btw. Seeing that trans men are still on a higher risk level of being sexually assaulted and raped than cis people, it is good that the topic was brought up. Demographic quantity shouldn't be decisive for politics based on integrity.
There was no reason to bring it up. He was obviously just spitting out words that he thought would score him points. "reproductive justice?" The question was whether or not they would advocate for a government healthcare plan that covered abortions. A simple yes would have sufficed.
Andrew Yang is the only candidate with an apolitical interest in helping American citizens. He has no ulterior motive, no identity politics, and fully explains in deep detail his plan for UBI as well as a mathematically backed explanation of why it is necessary. I encourage everyone to spend a bit of their time watching his podcast with Joe Rogan, who asks many of the questions your average citizen would.
What are Warren's ulterior motives? Her whole life she has been a consumer advocate. Yang is a one-issue candidate and the presidency is not a one-issue job; and UBI is a losing issue.
I have no idea what Yang stands for - they didn't give him much time to tell us during the debate. That was the disappointing thing for me. We hear the senators, congressmen and mayors on TV all the time. I'd like to hear more from those who aren't always jumping in front of the cameras.
If you watch the debate distilled down to all the moments when an individual candidate spoke I think you get a better idea of what they were trying to say but it's still not very much. here is a nice video containing everything Yang said during the debate. In total he spoke less than 5 minutes. He's got some interesting ideas but he's got no chance as a candidate, IMO, and his emphasis on UBI which seems insane even to most Democratic voters isn't going to carry him. I think his best-case scenario, and I'm pretty sure Yang himself knows this, is to use his candidacy to raise awareness of his signature issue, and then maybe get some other people to talk about it.
I was hoping for flexibility on the spelling there but miraculously spelled it right on the first try. I hope Boot-edge-edge is an alternate accepted spelling!
took awhile to get the "u" in Klobuchar and that Eric Swalwell wasn't Eric Slawlwell... got 'em all, but maybe some more flexibility with spellings, especially for those lesser known candidates.
If you would like to try an up-to-date quiz about a similar topic, I have a "Major 2020 Presidential Candidates" quiz (under this account) that covers all the candidates from both political parties. Hope you enjoy it!
I was in Miami the night of this debate, I saw the sign saying "MIAMI: No socialismo, no comunismo, somos capitalista." I debated the Trump supporters there. They were very kind and legitimately concerned about socialism.
klobuk = hat
klobučar = hatter / hatmaker
Klobuchar is the spelling when you have limited keyboard
Other candidates (Klobuchar, Ryan, Delaney) struck a more conciliatory tone.
