This is a lot harder than some of the other continents because there is very little information you can get from looking at the map to figure out what you are missing.

Maybe mention that it doesn't include overseas territories (France, UK, etc).

It' "Countries of NA," not "Countries with territory in NA." There is a difference, and the title is correct as it is.

What defines a country to be "of" North America? The location of the capital? To bad for Greenland that they have oversea territories in Europe. And Trinidad is for sure a part of South America.

You know why Greenland is an overseas territory. All these others have regional capitals aswell. Trinidad and Tobago are recognized as Caribbean and therefor North American, besides as a level 67 you should already know about Jetpunk countries and the fact whether each country belongs to each continent is the same across every single quiz to make it consistent.

So I learned something new today. I always thought that North America went as far as Mexico and everything south of (but not including) Mexico to Colombia was defined as Central America. The Caribbean nations were excluded from both North and Central America.

However, I now realise that the UN defines the smaller area above as being 'Northern' America and that 'North' America includes all the nations in this quiz.

It'll soon be getting as complicated as defining the British Isles, Great Britain and the United Kingdom.

You're correct that the regions are known as Central America and the Caribbean, however those are not continents. Both regions are part of North America. Just like the Middle East isn't a continent and is (mostly) part of Asia.

This has changed through the years and still isn't 100% percent accepted. Some argue that Trinidad should be part of South America, but the consensus now seems to be to include all Caribbean nations with North America. When I was in school there was no effort to include every island with a continent. Many were just considered islands with no connection to continents. Then there are issues such as whether to include Hawaii with North America or Oceania. Some want to group by cultural or political connections while others want to do it solely by geography. When I looked up Caribbean islands I usually saw "the Caribbean is 'mostly' considered part of North America," so there are still some out there in different camps. It doesn't matter to me. It will probably change again someday, anyway.

gonna pick some nits here. first, unless something changed between when i graduated college(25 years ago), greenland is part of north america even though it is part of denmark. i also questioned the inclusion of the central american countries(guatemala to panama) as part of north america since they are differentiated into north, central, and south, as well as the caribbean nations for similar reasons. i'm not objecting, i was just confused. perhaps having something in the directions or a caveate about this would be less confusing. Unless of course i am the only confused one, which is entirely possible. it has been so before.

I need to change my standard order for North American countries. I find it unreasonably frustrating that I can't guess the Dominican Republic before Dominica. It just throws the whole order.
