I only knew Santiago from this Civilization IV scenario that I played, where they included it as a city in Spain.

Yes, very obscure.

The camino de Santiago/Way of St. James is pretty famous and historically and culturally significant.

The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is well known indeed! Maybe it is so mostly in Europe?

Likely. It it is probably most well-known in places with waypoints on the route, which can be found far into central Europe, and less so elsewhere.

Almost sure that the treaty that divided the world was signed in Tordesillas.

The Treaty of Zaragoza was the one signed in 1529, but I think the Treaty of Tordesillas is much more well-known (mostly because the Treaty of Zaragoza basically restated Tordesillas and added another line on the opposite side of the world). I agree that the treaty that really divided the world was Tordesillas.

Bilbo (Basque official name for Bilbao) and Eivissa (Catalan official name for Ibiza) must be accepted

Even though it clearly states that the answer for Ibiza begins with an 'I'?

I always find it disappointing when Bilbo doesn't work for Bilbao on a quiz, which is most of the time.

Kind of an odd mix of languages here, with Seville in English but A Coruna in Galician.

Córdoba? There is no Córdoba. I don't know what that means, Córdoba. Never heard of such a place.

(It's where the Disgrace of Córdoba happened, when Germany lost to Austria in the 1978 world cup. We don't talk about it in polite company.)

Well, it’s still better than the disgrace of Gijon that happened four years later, don’t you think?

Germany vs. Austria can only end in disgrace. We should just Anschluss them again ;-)

That 1978 world cup was in Argentina, the world cup in Spain was in 1982.

Enjoyable quiz with great hints. I got most of my knowledge of Spanish soccer teams plus just tried a few cities that I knew of in South America and they also seemed to be in Spain! Thanks a lot.

This was already mentioned in 2018, but I have to bring it again: any middle schooler in Spain would answer "Treaty of Tordesillas". The Treaty of Zaragoza is completely unknown, maybe only by historians.

The clue to the city of Zaragoza could be "Biggest city on the river Ebro".
