omg me too i just barely got it at the end lol xd someetimes its so tuff to remember the obvious things...i guess thats the fun of trivia!!!!!!!!! lol xD
French Guiana is not a "territory" in the most general sense. It is classified as a French "department," is considered one of 26 official regions of France, and has representation in the French National Assembly and Senate. I think adding France as a correct answer would be proper, not pedantic.
Maybe think of it like this (but i might make matters worse haha) if you are in the car and stick your arm out of the window, you would still say you were in the car. Not in the air or on the side of the road.
Yes. Much like egypt is a part of asia because of the sinai peninsula, georgia, azerbaijan, turkey, and kazakhstan all part europe, indonesia in oceania, spain and portugal in africa, panama in both americas, the netherlands in the americas, and so on. Transcontinental countries aren't that uncommon, even if you don't count unincorporated territories.
JetPunk is consistent on this: a country is not considered part of multiple continents. It is only considered part of the continent of which it is most associated with. Part of Russia is in Asia, but it is considered a European country, etc.
It took me some time, because I took the instructions NORTH and SOUTH America literally. I didn't at first realise that Central America is also included.
Not if you speak Spanish. There the Americas are one continent with 3 subcontinents: North, Central and South. At least that's how they learn it in most of Latin America
Yep, tricky one. It should be here because of French Guiana which is a department of France, not a territory, but people will argue that France is a country in Europe, not South America. The US is a country in North America, but also has a state in Oceania, yet I never see the US listed on the Oceania quizzes. Perhaps some type of caveat would be in order for those two special instances, indicating countries whose mainlands are on another continent will not be included?
I wasted half the time thinking through each of the Caribbean islands because I misread and didn't realize it included South American countries *faceplam*
